Schedule Interview Now?

So if my case is still at the NVC I can still proceed and schedule and interview in the future right?  The reason I am asking is because I see this disclaimer when doing so that makes me unsure:

 

- Your case is still with the National Visa Center (NVC).
- You have not received instructions from the Embassy or NVC that you may schedule an interview.

Once you have an NVC case number (MNLXXXXXXXX), you can go ahead and do the DS-160, medical, pay the visa fee, schedule the interview, etc. This is for Manila...it doesn't apply to all embassies/consulates.

That said, schedule it for at least 30 days out just so they have time to get the case from NVC and process it in Manila. If you try to interview before it actually arrives and they are ready, you'll have to reschedule and come back.

Ok thanks.  We just finished the DS-160 and just paid the fee. So we will schedule the interview and medical now.  I do have another question.  What is the

Priority Date: for in the passport section when filling out the information for the interview?

Also is the Case ID: there the case ID provided by the NVC?

The medical at SLEC is walk-in, not scheduled. You can register online to speed up the paperwork upon arrival, but it's still just walk-in.

An I-129F doesn't really have a priority date...that's really used with immigrant visas. The K-1 is unique in that it is non-immigrant but processed by the immigrant visa unit at the embassy, so some things don't really apply. That said, we used the I-129F's Notice Date from the NOA1.

Yeah we know the SLEC is walk-in and not scheduled and that we can registered online to speed it up. We will being doing that.  I'll use the notice date from our I-129F as well for our priority date I guess.  On that same page it asks for the case ID.  We we wondering if that is the NVC case # (the MNL) or our receipt number from NOA1/2.

And how does one know...whey 'they' are ready?

 

I guess I had thought...as long as they have the file from NVC...they got them ready...based on the interviews that were coming in...that day or week?

Sounds like our files will be sent...the same day...  I chatted with a helpful NVC employee today....and he said they bundle the files....and send them in groups.  He said my file...was ready to go...just waiting for the companions...hehehe.... I am hoping they want to get them off their desk...on Friday!

Do you think if I schedule the interview about 23 days into the future from now it will be too soon?  Is it possible to reschedule if it was?

Hopefully ours will be sent the same time and that they won't be at the NVC much longer.  Hopefully they are sent off today as that would be great!

On average it takes about 2 weeks for the case file to arrive at USEM, from there it has to be processed and prepped for the interview..  I know of some that did it in 3 weeks,  when we were doing this I scheduled 4 weeks out .. but the decision is always yours.

 

 

As for rescheduling, you are allowed to reschedule twice without penalty.

Ok thanks hank!  So that is a little over 3 weeks so hopefully it will be processed and ready then for our interview.  If not I guess we will have to rescheduled and have it postponed for a few days.

NVC is sending out case files to the Embassy's in batches now and it is every two weeks. Latest shipment went out on 8/21 so next shipment will be 9/3 9/4 depending on what part of the world you are in. Keep this in mind when scheduling. Three weeks is cutting it close. I much prefer the 30 day window but you can reschedule your appointment like Hank stated 2 times without penalty. Your mileage can vary.

Uggg looks like we may have just missed the shipment on 8/21.  I hope they will have ours in 23 days from now.

Just because case won't be there soon doesn't mean you can't get everything done. You still can finish this in under 30 days is my bet. If you have to reschedule it's not uncommon to cancel and reschedule. 3-4 years ago @Hank_ and I can remember when USEM's interview schedule was full most of the time and you couldn't get an interview until the opened up the next month's schedule and if you didn't get spot then, you would have to wait till someone cancelled or till the next month would open. People were watching and refreshing throughout their day and their other half would take the "watch" when the other was sleeping. Some even devised a computer solution, where they placed their laptop next to their bed and the software application would ping the web page for scheduling for any changes. If a change occurred then the alarm would sound and the individual would have to wake up and grab the appointment that was now available. Some others waiting 60-90 days before they could schedule. This was all because of the devastating Typhoon that hit the Philippines and those who were affected got special expediating of their case.
