Hi everyone,

My fiancé's interview was scheduled for today at the Casablanca Embassy. When he arrived there, the embassy was closed due to the Eid Al Adha holiday.

We are beyond pissed. How stupid are they for scheduling our interview on a holiday? They never called him nor me to reschedule. They sent neither one of us an email to reschedule (we both checked out spam folders too just incase). Supposedly they open tomorrow. He travelled 5 hours by train yesterday to get to Casablanca. What do you guys recommend? I feel like he should stay there another night and go directly to the embassy tomorrow morning to explain our situation. Hopefully they could slip him an interview. If not at least they can reschedule. We just don't trust their ability to email or call us (even though they have his email and phone number from the MANY times he sent them an email to let them know he was ready for the interview to be scheduled).

You can't believe the roller coaster of emotions we are going through right now. All because some government workers can't do their job right...

Sorry that this happened. I feel bad because I advised you in another thread that the consulate would likely be open, but it seems I was wrong.

I don't think they will be open tomorrow either at this point, but if he is already in Casa he might want to try to stay to see if someone will be there and willing to speak to him tomorrow.

Sorry this happened, I hope that someone from the consulate either contacts you soon or your fiance is able to speak with someone there tomorrow.

Just try really hard to not hold a grudge or send a snarky email or anything else. Casa is hard enough as it is.

I'd suggest your fiance go home, they will likely be closed tomorrow. My husband is off all week for the holidays and thinks they will be too.

Send some nice emails that there was a miscommunication and when can they reschedule. Hopefully it will be soon.

Its okay, not your fault. This is their mess up. But what can we do? All we can do is hope they reschedule for the soonest date possible. We sent an email but chances are it wont be replied to till next week (if that at all).

Yes, I did my best to send a professional email.

Also my fiancé said that the guard there working at the embassy said that they will be open tomorrow. I think my fiancé will stay the night so he can go to them first thing tomorrow morning, at least to see if they can re-schedule. The best that can come out of it is they might be able to see him and find him on their computer system and issue him a new document and answer any questions he has about whether his medical is still valid since he did his medical exam 2 weeks ago on this date as per the instructions. Beats waiting another 2 weeks for them just to reply to his email. Plus he is in Casablanca and might as well do some sight seeing. Too bad most things are shut down.

Medical will be valid for 6 months so not an issue.

it should have been open as it is during Ramadan

only thing that could have happened is muslims who work there  did not show up and they were  without personal to do interviews

i would stay if possible and go tomorrow

medical is an issue as u need to travel to USA before medical expires

Hello Nadia,

I am sorry you're going through this, I would suggest if money permits, for him to stay In Casablanca if he's already there and go tomorrow. According to the memorandum, it will be open tomorrow and I am sure that just like him others missed their chance today and will be going tomorrow. That is completely frustrating and unprofessional on their part, wow!

Best of luck.

HI There,

Ramadan and Aid ADDha are completely different when talking about days OFF, especially this year where you have 3 days OFF in a raw + Holiday Time.  in normal season people can take at least 1 week OFF so they can enjoy their Sheep and Digestion :)

Update: He stayed in Casablanca yesterday and went to the embassy again this morning, and they basically told him that someone should have called or emailed him before to reschedule. All they can do is the give his name to the person responsible for the interview and remind that person to respond. My fiancé was advised to send the email so he will. I have sent one too already. Hopefully they reply soon.
