I understand what you say, but I don't think my income is sufficient enough nor above the federal poverty level.

Quite frankly: those are questions that you should have asked yourself BEFORE filing for a K1. You need to understand that this is not just filling out a form. It is multiple forms from here on and it is an expensive journey.

If your income is not sufficient enough and below the poverty level, how do you think you will be able to provide for your future spouse after she gets there? She is not going to be working for several months and to apply for AOS, you have to pay another $ 1.200.

The question is how do I put down someone else that is helping me out financially? Do I get their bank statement? The person I am referring to is retired.

That was answered above: each sponsor has to fill out his own I-134. That person also has to prove that they have sufficient funds by providing the documents listed on the USCIS website.

In general I would suggest that you check out the VJ guide section and start reading up. It is important for you to know which steps you need to be taking.

They also fill out an I-134 and provide documentation of their current income (plus a copy of the most recent year's tax return at most embassies/consulates, although not all request this for the I-134).

It sounds like their current income is $0? Or is he/she earning Social Security or a pension? You would need to provide appropriate documentation for their income, if they have any.

If they are using assets like a bank account or retirement account, they need to provide proper documentation of those assets. Typically 12 months of statements works here.

I don't get why do they have to fill out the I-134 when I already filled it out.

The person I'm asking to help per income requirement is a relative of mine and he is retired with some income. He does not have much association with my fiance. So it would be like sending it twice and paid twice?

Well, it was not simple enough for me and I could not find anyone to talk to about this K1 process. Everyone went through things in a different way. The worse part? Often some told us to read just that and we're lost. It's not very simple. That is why I'm asking now while I can, and still get hit by those who say Go Read The Info. :(

I [F] am the petitioner. I do have a stable job and hold assets very well. I have no issue taking care of him and do not see any forthcoming issue in the future. Things are well prepared, it just if I'm not at the said poverty level I was afraid of being turned down due to lack of yearly income requirement vs liquid assets.

Because each sponsor has to fill one out. One sponsor, one I-134 - two sponsors, two I-134.

No, it isn't simple. But when you are being told "go read the guide", that doesn't mean that people try to hit you with that. It is just that the guides are pretty straightforward and guide you through the process step by step. Then, when you have additional questions it is much easier to answer specific questions rather than explaining the whole thing when there is a guide that does that.

Ok, so just to make sure we're on the same level: I didn't try to implicate that you will not be able to take care of him, but when you say your income is below the poverty level, it makes it hard to provide for two people when there is only one income and you have expensive fees to pay. If you have additional assets, those can be used to prove that you have enough to cover your future husband and you might not need an additional sponsor.

That said, keep in mind that once you file for AOS, you need to submit another affidavit of support (not sure about the form number right now, but it is in the guides as well). I believe that the hurdle to prove sufficient funds is a little higher for that one.

No, you do not pay to file an I-134. It is included in the beneficiarie's documents for the interview. There is no fee pay just for this form. It is just that he would need to I-134s including the supporting documentation.

The petitioner is never required for an interview at the embassy/consulate, but in rare circumstances I've seen them request it (usually if there's a second interview). That said, it's generally considered beneficial to be there for the interview (even if the particular embassy doesn't let you into the building or to the interview counter/room). Plus a celebration afterwards is always nice... ;)

A co sponsor is never required to be there and I have not heard of a circumstance where it was requested either.
