Hello guys we had our i 751 interview today , here is what happened,  as soon as our number was called we went  up to the door where an old lady was waiting she asked my wife to go  in with her  and asked me to wait in  waiting room , so after an hour and half  my wife came back and she asked me to follow her to her office and  interviewed me for an other hour or so , she asked all kinda question from the day where started talking which was like 6 years ago to till today which hotel did we stay and how we got to their office i mean tons of questions and asked me if i wanna to submit more docs which ofcourse i did ... and then sge made copies of everything and returned the orignal ones back , and told us that they are going to mails us the decision  in next few weeks 😐😐😐 however she didnt give me any kinda sheet or form  oh btw  i  told her that my n400 interview is scheduled for next month and she went like no dont come to that interview idk why they scheduled that while your i 751 is still pending 😣😣

So my question is what should i expect after this stokes interview  ?

Your post is a little weird. Did you apply for N 400 while your I-751 was still pending and if so did they schedule your I-751 interview separately? I’m asking if that be the case because the most common protocol is to do a joint I-751/N400 interview. If only the I-751 interview was done now and you have also been scheduled for your N 400 interview you should definitely attend your N 400 interview. I don’t see how you can possibly naturalize without attending your N400 interview. Some officers really say wrong things at times and this is one of those cases. The N400 and I-751 are both separate applications though the I-751 must be adjudicated before your N 400 can be approved so there’s nothing strange about having it scheduled while pending I-751. Disregard that advice and attend your N 400 interview as well.

Omg 😮 1 hour and Half for each of you !! That’s insane . Sorry you guys had to go through this. Did you have any red flag you can think of? I think you should still go to your N400 interview  unless notified officialy by mail not to come.

May I ask you ,  What evidence did you initially send? Did you get any RFE? Don’t stress to much and don’t lose hope , you will get it 🙏🏼

Yes my 751 was pending when i applied for citizenship  , and yea they scheduled both interviews separately,  for i 751 which was today and for n400 which is on Sept 20th next month , so when i mentioned that to my IO , she said do not  come to that interview you 751 has to be approved before that 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I see disregard that officer’s advice and attend your N 400 interview. If you don’t it will definitely be denied for nothing. If your I-751 isn’t approved by then, the most that will happen is you will be given a “decision can’t be made” and not a recommendation for approval after the interview. Once your I-751 gets approved at its time the N 400 will follow suit and you’ll be scheduled for oath.

Hello @Sad.wasi, Don't worry about it. The worst is over as they say. Did you have your interview at the Chicago field office ? Also, when did you apply for your I-751 ? It seems like the Chicago field office conducts more in person case interviews than the others.

Wow that’s insane, our interview was 15 minutes and he only asked two very basic questions. But this was for the first green card the one that’s two years.

He was very happy that I’m from Sweden and said he’s only had a dozen of Swedes before.

Super friendly, all he asked was why we got married on Halloween and I said because I love horror movies and then he started talking about his favorite horror movies.

His second question was how big was our apartment because it’s a very expensive one in Manhattan. He was just so impressed by both our careers (we are both entrepreneurs).

That was it, felt like we became friends. He said they do much stricter interviews for people that come from red flag countries, but he said if you’re from Scandinavia then they basically approve you without checking much.

You’ll be fine, he said that it’s very hard for them to deny an application because how can they prove that you’re not actually in love etc.

Even cases where the husband is 80 years old and the wife is 25 years old they still approve it because it’s impossible to prove love wrong.

Honestly they're not trying to prove your love, they're looking at your financial commingling and paper proof of bring together. One of the common misconceptions is that "love is enough" and that's very untrue.

The reason it's hard to prove "love" wrong, is because every marriage usually meets some of the basic paper requirements. Some people have been approved on joint rental leases, joint bank accounts, joint tax returns alone with out any other proof, others have been approved with separate bank accounts, joint rental agreements and joint tax returns.

Now if you have separate bank accounts, file taxes separately and one of you aren't on the lease or you live in another state, then you may fall into that 10% that gets denied, unless you can explain it in a way that wards off doubt.

Doing a quick search through VJ, most people who were denied were denied for reasonable reasons such as getting divorce but not switching to divorce waiver or doing a divorce waiver and little to no proof.

Would you please tell us on what aspect of your marriage an officer was focusing the most with his/her questions (i.e. finances, details about your apartment, how you spend your time together, etc?

They can not deny you until or unless you have committed a crime. Your case raised red flags that's why they conducted a stokes interview. Which does not mean they will deny you. The IO will review your paperwork and submit his/her findings to the supervisor for the approval. They will take a few days or a week or two. As I said they will approve you if you have not falsified anything. Regards

????? What do you base this on? Yes, most are not denied but failure to convince them of bonified  marriage is a reason for denial.
