Sputum test results

So I've read a few first hand accounts where people got their medical results in a sealed packet the day they collected their sputum results, but then going through this forum I saw some comments saying slec sends it to the embassy themselves and it can take a week or longer. Which one is correct? My husband is scheduled to get his results Oct 17 and we were going to schedule the interview right away after that. Will that not be possible? First hand experiences would be very helpful, thank you.

Well it can be both ways. It's at the discretion of SLEC which way they will send it to the USEM. For over two years now they have given the medical package to the applicant once the medical is completed who then takes it to their interview. This is done in about 97% of the cases. When you have other tests to complete that are not your plain vanilla medical exam then SLEC will send the file over via courier.

So if he has a two day exam without any problems or additional testing then he will have his file to take to USEM for the interview.

You have read where after SPUTUM they received the sealed medical file to hand carry to their interview?  I have not read of this, I have only seen reports where after SPUTUM St. Luke's forwards the medical file to SLEC.

Could you post a link, I would really appreciate?   Thanks

Mostly blogs I've found with Google, but it was about a month ago when I was looking into it. I've been trying to find them but can't find one that specifically says they got the sealed envelope. They have their interview two days later but don't say if medical was received at slec or couriered. At least not recently. I did find this quote: "SLEC will release the medical exam results directly to the applicants unless instructed otherwise by the Panel Physician."

Does this mean we can request the panel physician to release it via envelope instead of courier? I'll be calling tomorrow to ask them.

No, they never did call her with the results of the TB culture. They told her to call on a certain day that would mark the 2 months. If culture would be positive any where in the 2 month waiting period then they would call her. When she called on the selected date they told her the culture results were not ready to call back the next day. She called back next day and they told her the results were negative and she could come back for her shots. This information was given to her on Tuesday, She flew into Manila on Thursday and went to St.Lukes's to finish the medical exam and they had her embassy interview set for the following morning on Friday.

So this one doesn't say she received the packet, but her interview was the next morning. However it's from 2010, so.... Grain of salt I suppose.

I don't know of any that completed SPUTUM and receive their medical file to hand carry to the interview.  With that in mind it might be good to allow at least 5 business days between the completion of the medical and the interview .. just to make sure the medical file has arrived.   SLEC will try to get the medical file to USEM as quickly as possible.

I seriously doubt you can request to hand carry your medical file after SPUTUM.

In 2010 the medical files were always delivered to the embassy directly by St. Luke's.     The embassy was slightly more lenient regarding the medical files being at the interview years back, but they have gotten stricter on this in the last couple years, I do know of visa applicants that were turned away at the embassy and told to reschedule their interview because the medical file was not there for the interview.

As noted this hand carry process only started a couple years ago.  It speeds the process up for sure .. when it is allowed.

Hi.. I got my Sputum results last April 27, 2018 as Negative and they instructed me that SLEC will be the one to forward my Medical results to US Embassy and I did not schedule for an interview yet, but SLEC informed me that regardless when is my interview, they will send my Medical results ASAP so no need for me to worry, and it will be there by the time i’m Scheduled.. SLEC noted that all applicants who undergone Sputum exam, medical results will be directly sent to US Embassy.. and those who had their medical cleared upon the day they had the exam (no Sputum exam required), they will be given the packet.
