Hello!

When filing the I-129f, I misinterpreted the requirement about the police certifications and when you need it, and put it together with our petition. But as I have learned now (through another recent thread I made here about obtaining police records from a country (other than your native country) where you have lived in for more than a year), it is really for the interview that you need to present it.

My question is, should I order new police certificates that are more up to date before going to the interview? If the interview takes place around the statistically predicted time, the certificates that I currently have will be around 10 months old.

Thanks!

The certificate you have for the current country you reside in is valid for 1 year from date of issue, so unless your petition takes a long time ( More than 12 months to interview) you will be fine there. Any other certificates you have from other countries you visited do not expire as long as you do not go back to that country for more than 6 months again. You should be ok unless your K1 takes a really long time to reach the embassy where you need the police certificate. I had to submit mine with the Packet 3 after my petition got to the embassy and showed READY status. I had ordered and received my police certificate in April of 2018, and my fiancee just did her interview August 2018 with no problems with certificate.
