Hi everyone. My husband is planning on immigrating to the US with me, and we have already received the confirmation email from the NVC stating that all documents we're approved, and now they are in the process of scheduling an interview with the US consulate in Amsterdam.

My question is; how long does it typically take visa applicants in the Netherlands to have their appointment scheduled after receiving the confirmation? As far as I know, there isn't a huge volume of people trying to immigrate, but I can't seem to find a solid time frame. Its been almost 2 weeks now.

Thank you and good luck to all.

I am also wondering. Our case was expedited and skipped the nvc phase. Any people went trough the amsterdam consulate?

Yvonne, what category are you? And I'm wondering how your case was expedited? I thought all immigrant visas had to go through NVC, but again, I do not know what applies to others and what doesn't. How long have you been waiting for an interview?

we filed i130 petition for spouse and minor child

We requested that our case would be expedited due to medical reason and they sent this to the American consulate for approval and they approved it last Wednesday. I have been waiting for an interview appointment since then.

Yes you can expedite your case like you can with the USCIS. you have to sent an email to nvc to request this and then they will forward it too the consulate for approval or denial. I believe you need to have a good reason to be approved and documents to support our claim. lets keep each other updated!:)

I'm not sure if my case would be different since I'm k-1 and my case was not expedited, but the consulate received our application a month ago and we have yet to schedule our appointment. The VOG is currently taking 6-8 weeks, so that's holding us up. Since we have everything else, we're trying to make an appointment for an interview that we will simply reschedule if we don't get the VOG in time (but it's been a month). BUT, there are also no appointments available at the moment, so we have to wait until the consulate opens up more slots.

It seems that K-1 is a popular category for many so it may be why they are backlogged with scheduling. Do you have a lawyer who can maybe assist you with the communcation? I've never been able to speak with someone at the consulate, their phone number doesn't transfer to anyone. We did end up receiving our appointment date 2 weeks from when they received our case. I guess I'm a little impatient. I'm curious to know how it works out for you. Best of luck.

I think you're right that it's only the K-1 that's backlogged. We don't have a lawyer, but I don't know what they could do that we can't, honestly. My fiancé has been able to call them and speak to someone - and I know others have as well, and have even made their appointment over the phone. If the VOG wasn't taking so long, I think he would have gotten in at the end of this month for an interview. I really think we just hit it all at the wrong time. I wouldn't call myself very patient either! 😅 How long did your VOG take?

Hi everybody. I received an appointment date for mid september. I am not sure it is because our cases are approved for expediated processing but with us we got an appointment scheduled within 1 week of it being arrived at the consulate. Medical I have friday. About the VOG. I advice you to call the number that is on that piece of paper you got from the gemeente. And call and explain you need to have your VOG fast. they might send it to you quicker. I got mine in 2 wks (without calling) but worth a try. J did here from the medical office that the consulate is extreme backlogged with appointments and even them are busy and dont have openings untill mid sept. That might explain also why your having to wait longer for an appointment date.

I have a question. The original documents for example birth cerificate. Aint that just the paper from the gemeente that you pay 11 eur?
