So we got married 8/8/18 and we filed my husband’s AOS 8/13/18. I’m just curious how long should I expect it to take to get our NOA/receipt? I’ve been checking my bank account religiously but they still haven’t cashed our check. Also, my bank will not allow him to be added to my account until he has his EAD or green card because his social security number is so new. Is this going to throw any red flags at our interview when the time comes? I’ve added him to everything else. And will there be any issues if he took a free fire fighter training class? The fire chief said he wouldn’t need a green card to do the class just to accept the job but I’m sure he doesn’t know much about USCIS.

The notice of action may take 2-3 weeks on average. Once they accept you application, USCIS will cash your cheque.  Bank of America is very understanding, My wife opened a joint account with me with BOA with (NO) SSN.

The interview may take between 4-23 months, so you have ample time to gather evidence.

NOA 1 can take up to 30 days. But recently, it can even be up to 60 days. No red flags if you don’t have him on your account at the interview. But you shouldn’t worry about that because it will like be a while from now and you will likely have the EAD well before the interview.

Taking a free class should not be a problem. Its a free class, just like ESL classes.

They cashed my check today it shows “USCIS Chicago” and it’s pending. Hope this means our NOA is on its way soon.
