A year and half after sending in the AOS application, i finally got my conditional permanent residency status. i remeber somebody asked for the charleston interview experience. here you go.

the invertiew itself is typical. the officer was polite. he asked those typical questions. where were you born? where do you live? how did you meet? when and where did you get married? were you engaged? what is your reserach area (i was F1 gruadate student)? house deed, bank statement, bills, employment letter, 2004 tax return (we offered the 2005, but he doesn't want it). but he asked us about 10 times when did we get married! the interview lasted about half an hour. i got the stamp on my passport before we left.

my 2 cents:

1.dress nicely. all the officers there dress casual businees attaire. some of the couples there I saw dressed like they are going for a game or something. that's not very respectful.

2. make copy of everything.

3.be VERY organized.

4.be alert at the questions. the officer was nice. i think he was alert (not skeptical though) too because that's part of his job.

5 you will be fine if you have a real marriage. nothing to worried about.

Awesome - 18 month, huh? Poo. I filed September 2005 - hubby is out of the military Feb. 2007. At which point we're moving to Boston, looks like I might be stuck with the address change :(

06/04/10 Senators office tells me the adjudicator who interviewed me thinks I have a criminal record. Send out all paper work showing no criminal record.

06/08/10 Leave for Canada

06/09/10 Get RCMP certificate showing no criminal record. Fax off to senators office.

06/23/10 Approved for Citizenship

06/24/10 USCIS contacts Senators office

06/28/10 Find out that I have been approved for citizenship and they are just waiting to schedule my oath.

07/12/10 Put in line for oath ceremony....wonder how long that will be!

08/18/10 Called USCIS confirmed they sent oath letter for 09/17/2010 at 9am.

09/17/10 Oath ceremony at 9am..... US Citizen!!!! Applied for passport.
