Hi everyone!

Okay so heres my situation, my fiancee (USC) has recently got a job, this month to be precise. She makes more than enough to support me on the i-134 document however as she only started this month she has no pay slips yet. From this i gather she cannot be a sole sponsor. Correct?

Her father is willing to be a co-sponsor so it is all okay if she cannot be. However i know she still has to complete the i-134, so how does she fill it out and put in her yearly salary but then us still use her father as a co-sponsor? because it will be more than needed alone so i feel it would look strange when handing in at the embassy?

Thankyou so much in advance for any help.

You are correct. She has to file a separate i-134 showing her current income and provide all the evidence she have to back it up. Both, your fiancee and co-sponsor fave to file a separate i-134 with its evidence.

A couple notes...

  1. You don't even have a NOA2 yet according to your timeline. By the time of the interview, I'm assuming he will have multiple pay stubs to show.
    1. This doesn't guarantee they will accept his income, but it is better than nothing.
  2. London specifically has accepted an employment letter as evidence of income.
  3. London specifically has let the visa applicant use their own assets to meet the public charge concern even if the USC sponsor didn't meet the requirements.
  4. If one does use a co sponsor, an I-134 from each would be provided.
  5. He would list his current annual income (i.e. what he makes in 12 months, not what he made last year or YTD) ) on the I-134 + provide supporting documentation.

Okay thank you.

1. yes i know, just want to be prepared, her first pay stub will be mid september. Hopefully will have the interview before the second payslip.

2. So get a official letter from her employer on a letterhead with employment information?

3. Never knew this

4. Yes

5. Do you think we should have this done as back incase the employment letter doesn't work?

Thanks again, really appreciate the help.

Thankyou for the response.

So will her income, more than needed) showing but not being used as main sponsor be an issue?

2) Yes.

3) London is the only embassy that lets you "self-sponsor" for the K-1 visa. Others may let you include the applicant's assets with an I-134, but still required a satisfactory I-134.

5) Personally, I would list it and have a co sponsor's I-134 (plus documentation) in my pocket just in case. :)

Some options:

  1. London will approve an I-134 with only an employer letter. You can add on a few payslips which she will have by the time you interview if that makes you nervous, but they have approved plenty with only that letter.  You could stall your interview if you wanted more pay slips. You pick the date of interview.
  2. London accepts an I-134 from the sponsor who has enough money. It does NOT have to be the fiancé. You can provide an I-134 from her dad and nothing from her.
  3. And yes, you can provide proof of your own money and sponsor yourself  if you have $30-$40k in cash. Bring financial statements instead of an I-134.
