Hi everyone.  I am relatively new to all this, so I know that as the months pass, I will have a lot of questions to ask.  I filed towards the end of July, but got the NOA1 8/3.  I guess I am kind of between July & August filers.  The notice I received says that I should get a receipt I-797 by 8/29.  Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of the next one?  Does it just tell you that USCIS has your package or something else.  I am learning as I go.  Thanks guys.

If you meant you received an email and/or text on 8/3, the I-797 is just official, written notification for NOA1. I received it about 4 days after getting the email and text for NOA1. It will contain a case number. You can use that number to lookup your case status online. Hope this helps.

Hi all!

Joining the ranks of August filers, we sent our petition on August 6th and finally just got the text for NOA1 10 days later.

Now the real wait starts, looking forward to waiting with all of you 😊

Welcome josefien!

My check was just cashed today. Still waiting on the paper I-797. I'm already impatient!

Do my fellow August filers have plans for their next trip to see their fiance? We're hoping November, but won't be able to spend Christmas together this year.

Does this mean our packet is in lockbox waiting for USCIS staff to come collect it?

Arrived a date late...but arrived

Yes, but try and be patient. It was another few days before I got the text/email notification that they picked it up even though they acknowledged they had it since that day. Good luck!!

I know. I just feel robbed by USPS for giving me an arrival date that wasn't honored.

Those first few days are so nerve wracking because you're worried you did something wrong. I completely get it! I'll be waiting for your announcement when you get your text/email. :) Hang in there!

Just dropping by to say Godbless you all in fighting for love. This journey will give you so much fun and excitement but more on stress, pressures and anxiety that’s really worth it in the end.

Just a piece of advice: if you think there were few evidences(passport photo, dating site TOS, etc) you forgot to include in your packet, make sure to prepare it now while waiting for your approval. UCSIS is such unpredictable. That will save your time to get your NOA2. :rolleyes:

So my loving fiancé forgot to fill out the form for notification. I was worried because we sent ours on August 1st and we did not receive any text or email. He just sent me a photo of the official noa1 so i’m very relieved.
