"Drunkard" isn't really a consideration. The consideration is GMC. The IO has discretion to make this determination based upon the totality of the circumstances. It is not based on a professional medical opinion.

 

Edit: Unless the reference was with regard to being deemed inadmissible. Then an IJ can make the decision about the criminal history and actions.

Agreed, the totality of the circumstances is usually how they would seem to approach it.

 

Let's say you had five convictions and weren't currently on probation (somehow), that would probably get you much more scrutiny than someone with just one.

Exactly. Stay out of trouble for 5 years or so and then apply for citizenship. That will show GMC above all else. Stay sober and stay out of trouble, OP......
