Do I have to send my original papers and passaport to a lawyer in the USA?

Hi , 
im from Algeria and my wife from usa california , we applied for CR1 we received notice of action , and welcome letter from nvc both , now we are waiting for NVC processe by ( using a lawyer ) , my question is :
* _ for the documents that I have to send to the NVC,
I spoke with the lawyer, she told me that I have to send her my original papers and my passaport from Algeria to the USA, and when I told her I was going to need them later she told me the government will return it to you later I want to know, if that has to be and if it is normal or not?

You will send copies to NVC and the originals to your interview. What she says doesn't make any sense.

Refer to the website below. It tells you DO NOT submit originals only copies. Bring your originals to the Visa interview

yes, in the NVC they say you do not have to send the originals, and to take the originals for the interview, that's why I'm asking how the lawyer wants me to send them my original papers and my passaports  to the USA that's what gives me doubts

What that lawyer has told you in this regard is grossly incorrect.

Something may be getting lost in translation.  Do NOT send your actual passport.  You'll need that to get into the Embassy for your interview.  Send a color copy or scan.  The lawyer will need a number of other things including a couple passport style photos.  I would just clarify with the lawyer before sending anything, but definitely not your actual passport.
