My mother attended her immigrant visa interview on July 19th, 2018 at Islamabad Embassy, Pakistan. The officer asked her general questions and whole process went smoothly. She was told at the end of interview that her she will receive her immigrant visa in 1-2 weeks and passport will be sent back to her. It's been over 3 weeks but we have not heard back from the embassy. Not sure what is causing the delay for her immigrant visa.

We haven't received request to submit any additional document or were  given 221G after the interview. Upon calling them they informed my mother that her visa is still in process (not administrative processing).

I will appreciate if someone here can guide me about how long it took them to receive their passport once their visa was approved. Especially if it was to do with their parents application.

Thanks.

^^^This.

The embassy would take time to prepare the visa in the passport. I am sure everything is fine and you shouldn't worry too much.

Yes she is in US now. I believe the delay was due to the change in process. All of the documents are sent to US first instead of traveller carrying the paperwork with them and giving it to the immigration officer at the port of entry. Also they recently changed the process to online submission of documents vs mailing. I also know someone else who went thru the same so look standard timing to me.

That is really nice to know...my dad had an interview on 11/23/2018 and we're still waiting for his visa and passport until now.  it has just been few days only anyway.  his ceac status just changed on 12/03/18 from pending administrative processing to issued.  so hopefully, visa & passport packet arrive via 2go this week.

@Mueez, until now, my Dad's packet hasn't arrived. his interview was on 11/23/18.  I know for sure we confirmed our pick up arrangement/address...we tried calling 2go, but phone just kept ringing...what do you recommend i do? should i call the visa center to follow up?

@harley2012I believe they recently changed the process, they don’t send any packet but only mail the passport with the stamped visa. You will have to pay $220 fee for the green card processing prior to him coming to US. There is two ways you can find information on his application, you can check at the USCIS website to see the visa status. If it says “Issued” you should receive the passport real soon but if it says “In process” this would mean they have not yet issued visa. Second way is to visit the US embassy local website and track the visa status by entering the passport number. You can always call on their local number to find out the status of his passport. Good luck!
