My husband came on a k-1 in June 2014, in July 2014 we married, in August 2014 we got him a SSN card and that same month we got him on my employers health insurance that's how we did it anyway.

We were not able to put my husband on through the marketplace even though he did have a ssn. We ended up just getting catastrophic insurance until he qualified for other insurance.

The marketplace wants at least an EAD to prove immigration status. NOA1 for I-485 is not listed as an acceptable document. IMHO it's unfair.

It's different. To put someone on an employer's insurance, all you need is an SSN. The Marketplace wants you to prove immigration status & they require an EAD, NOA1 for I-485 is not acceptable to them (which is not right IMO).
