Hi Everyone,

I'm so excited because I finally booked my medical (in Surrey, BC) and my interview today! I've found a very inexpensive flight to Montreal (usually a LOT from way out West), and am wondering if there's any reason to stay in Montreal for more than a few days? I'm planning on arriving the day before the interview and leaving two full days after. Since I'm from BC it would be silly to go all that way for one day! Does that sound good? I can't think why I would need to stay longer as I'll have already had my medical here at home 2 weeks earlier. Thanks!

ok I did more research on my own and established that lots of people just go for the day to the interview, so I'm fine :) Booked the flights! FYI WestJet is having a sale and I'm getting from Vancouver Island to Montreal and back for under $350!

Good to know! I'm hoping for my interview date soon so I can start booking. I'll be flying out from Calgary, so fingers crossed that the sale is still on when I receive my date :P 

Removing Conditions timeline:

  • I-90 accidentally submitted - 2020-08-14
  • I-751 submitted & received - 2021-03-26
  • Biometrics applied to case - 2021-04-21
  • Ready to schedule interview - 2021-12-22
  • Interview scheduled - 2022-01-04
  • Interview - 2022-02-01 / Postponed
  • New 10 year card being sent out!!!!

I booked an extra day or two for traveling in February where blizzards ground planes. This time of year there wouldn't be as much to worry about. I tend to get paranoid and there was no way after waiting 13 months for our IR1/IR2 I was going to miss our interview. The extra couple days were not needed. I stayed in a Air BnB to keep the cost down that included a little kitchenette.

 

Montreal is a beautiful city and if you can get the opportunity to check it out why not? I lived in BC most of my life so I figured there wouldn't be many opportunities to experience it again. My 5 year old son loved Montreal so much he refused to get on the plane when it was time to leave.

 

There are many stories where people flew in the day of their interview and there were no problems. I did a lot of flying back and forth to Vegas while waiting for my IR-1. A couple of times I had flights cancel or get delayed. Keep in mind anything can happen with that regard and there is no predicting it.
