Hello Everyone!

Question: My wife had her work permit and advance parole approved, she's planning to travel back home for 4-5 weeks. Is it safe to buy a one-way ticket instead of a round trip, just in case she receives her interview appointment and have to cut her trip short.

Thank you all for your help and input!!!

In my experience one-way tickets tend to be way more expensive than return tickets.  At least with the "normal" airlines (United, Lufthansa …).  I'd never buy a one-way ticket from them, only a return ticket, ideally one where you're allowed to re-schedule.

Some low-cost carriers (WOW, IcelandAir) seem to have more plausible prices where one-way tickets cost around 50% of return tickets, as one would expect.  With those carriers it might make sense to only buy a one-way ticket until you receive the interview appointment.
