Hello! I'm currently filing for my EAD/AP combo card renewal and I'm stuck at the last port/date of entry question in the application. I initially entered the US on k1 visa on July 3rd, 2017 in Atlanta, GA. However, I also went on a 5 day cruise (New Orleans - Mexico - New Orleans) that lasted from Jan 29, 2018 to Feb 3, 2018. The travel history in my I-94 shows my initial port of entry (Atalanta, GA) and the departure in January 2018 for my cruise (doesn't say the specific location though, it just says "unknown") but it doesn't show the arrival. The thing is when I arrived in New Orleans from the cruise, they never checked any of my documents. They didn't scan anything or ran anything through their system so this whole situation is really confusing to me. Now I'm not sure what to say on my application. Do I put July 3rd, 2017, Atlanta, GA or do I put Feb 3, 2018 , New Orleans, LA?

I'd really appreciate any help!

Thank you!

I don't have an answer to your question, but I found this: https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/74/~/documents-needed-to-take-a-cruise

Looks like the cruise was "Closed Loop." Odd that there is no record of the New Orleans entry; @geowrian thoughts?

I know...it is odd. What really shocked me is that they never checked any of my documents upon arrival so it's almost like I never came back according to the records. I did however get my driver's license in March with no problem whatsoever but I'm not sure if that proves anything.

I haven't been ignoring this thread...jsut kinda hoping somebody with better expertise on this subject would chime in first. ;)

Luckily you didn't apply before the cruise...it would be cause for abandonment of the application!

Tough call on what to list. I would lean towards the cruise since that was technically the last entry into the country. However, it's strange that they didn't check papers upon return.

I'll be blunt that I don't have much real advise here...it's not a situation that I have too much to go on with histories, sorry.

Closed loop cruises are always trouble. I also dont know much about this. I recall something about closed loop and if you dont get off the ship it doesnt count as leaving the US (?)

You can contact CBP- perhaps go to a deferred inspection site with all your relevant documents and try to get it sorted. Also some people have i94 issues and generally its not an issue. The online i94 is considered a 'helpful tool' and not an official record. If USCIS has an issue with your entry/exits they will let you know and you can then fix it. Obviously its better to speak to/go to CBP and prevent it from becoming an issue to begin with.
