I would suggest putting N/A in any field in which you don't input data, if the field allows it (the state field probably doesn't, but the rest should). Absolutely no harm in that.

Horrible waste of time to do that.  Also, sometimes a question IS definitely "applicable" and the correct answer is "NONE" or "No Children" etc.  Advice to enter something in every field is years out of date.  It comes from a time when the I-130 was 2 pages.

So would you agree that this is an OK course of action when filing the I-130 for my 6 yr old stepson -- that I just put NO SPOUSE, NO CHILDREN in the first available field of the "Information about beneficiary's family" section and leave the rest of it blank?

By George, I think you're getting the hang of this.

Do you foresee any harm if one puts N/A instead of leaving fields blank.. for example if one is Single,Never Married and puts N/A in "Date Married On". Could it cause confusion or will USCIS ignore the superfluous N/A?

Nobody ever answers questions if they are not a new topic though.. I can keep asking on this thread all I like and never get a response. Something I am doing wrong?

You'd be surprised at how helpful people are.  It helps if the curious do some study and reading first, to see if the same questions and answers have been posted in the forums previously, or if the sample forms show what to do.

Questions about your case properly belong in a single thread.  This enables readers to get a fuller picture of where you are in the process and what you've been told already, because previous answers are intact in one place.  You also avoid accusations of spamming the forums.

If you have questions about a Moderator's decision, the protocol is to send a PM to ask for clarification. :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Filling out the I-130 A employment history of last 5 years for my wife (the beneficiary). The last entry in this would be unemployed (between 2011 and 2013), but my wife doesn't remember the exact start date (she remembers the end date). She remembers it as Nov 2011, but not the day. OK to put MM/YYYY, or can we put an approximate day? Do we need to add any explanation? She remembers all the other employment period dates accurately.

When I filed, I put the date I guessed it to be and then on the back page for more information I added that it was an approximation.

Her best guess will be fine.

I-130 Evidence of bona fide marriage

Hi, Just about to submit the I-130 application for my wife - I have the following pieces of evidence for a bona fide marriage:

1) Marriage certificate of me and my spouse

2) Birth certificate and consular report of birth of our child

3) My passport showing stamps where I traveled to India, some print outs of flight etickets where I and my wife took trips together in India.

4) 20-30 photos showing various stages of our relationship from meeting before marriage to having our baby and beyond.

Do I need anything else at this stage?
