Yup that's correct. My fiance was issued a 221g for submitting i 134... they wanted i864...i spoke to a lawyer too..she said pakistan has different rules despite what it may say on the website. Just be cautious. I also know couples who were asked to provide a police certificate and it just delayed everything

Hi my fiancé recently also had his interview. We submitted the i864 and The officer said he was approved but he just needs to submit the i134. It's been over a week now that we have submitted the i134 but I haven't heard anything from the embassy. Recently the visa application status was updated, the date changed to September 5. Any advice?

Thank you

Hey! Congratulations!

Yea this is a recent new thing they are doing. Demanding both forms which is ridiculous. They did that to us. You are lucky they did that you atvthe interview. They emailed us two weeks after we submitted i 864. But it's a formality. Dont worry you will hear soon. Inshallah

Also the date updated possibly indicates that they've touched your case.

Question: when you submitted i-134 did you submit supporting evidencr again?

  • 4 weeks later...

A police certificate from Pakistan is not required. They will likely issue a 221g with or without one since they must do an independent background check in lieu of the police certificate as the US government does not consider them reliable in Pakistan (as noted in the reciprocity schedule).

I have been waiting for my fiancé passport for over a month now. The case goes into AP and it takes long time from there. He was approved at interview on aug 30
