@Kely&Jose No, I haven't, I have attached what was sent to me in an email from the NVC, so now it seems like another period of waiting until things clear up, but I do plan on staying on top of both the NVC and the embassy in Nicaragua to see about any updates.

I am very sorry to hear that. I cant imagine waiting more time until the emassy opens.

Right now i am on request of additional evidence. So i will see if i can change my fiance's address to costa rica where he has an aunt living there and see if he can have his interview there.

Country-specific thread is moved from the K-1 Process forum to the Mexico/Latin/South America regional forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We recently received the same email message that @JPWJ got about a month ago. Our NOA2 was 9/18/18.

As of 9/17/18, the US Embassy in Managua is open but only "for limited services."

Does anyone have an educated guess as to how much longer an embassy offering limited services might take to receive a case from the NVC?

@setsemas Unfortunately I don't think anyone knows. I have been receiving the email updates from the US Embassy in Managua since April and there's no sign they will be processing nonimmigrant visas in Nicaragua anytime soon.

We had submitted the petition in March 2018 thinking the visa interview would be in Managua. I mailed a letter to USCIS on July 25th requesting an address change so the petition would be sent to San Jose, Costa Rica. My fiancé also moved there at the end of June. USCIS' customer service isn't the best (even after going into a field office in OKC in August to confirm the change was made) and I even received different answers the first few times I called.

We received the NOA2 on 9/20/18 and I called NVC yesterday 10/5/2018 and confirmed the address was updated to Costa Rica and received our case number. The first 3 digits are letter (SNJ) indicating the embassy where it will be sent to.

If your petition is still at the service center (probably TX or CA), I am happy to send you the letter we sent to USCIS to change the address of the beneficiary. If you received the NOA2 in Sept, I would contact NVC to have the address updated to a nearby country. If your petition is already in Managua, I would contact the embassy there. Below is my timeline:

03/03/2018: Mailed I-129F from Oklahoma City, OK
03/09/2018: I-129F Received
03/14/2018: NOA1 Received
09/20/2018: NOA2 Received  (191 days after NOA1)
10/05/2018: Confirmed NVC Received & Case Number assigned
xx/xx/2018: NVC sent to Embassy
xx/xx/2018: Consulate ready
xx/xx/2018: Package 3 Received
xx/xx/2018: Interview
xx/xx/2018: Received K-1 Visa

xx/xx/2018: POE

------

I have a question for the group: I now have my case number from DOS NVC, can my fiancé (beneficiary) go ahead and complete the DS-160 visa application without having the petition sent to the U.S. Consulate/Embassy yet? He also doesn't have the packet of requirements yet. I think I've noticed a few people are doing that..

Thanks for sharing @Bradyn & Javier!

My fiancée lives and works in Nicaragua and doesn't have any family in Costa Rica, so I don't think we'll be able to transfer the case.

We also have similar questions about the DS-160.

We recently got an email notice that the NVC sent our K1 visa petition to the U.S. Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua. So cases are being processed and the Managua US embassy is receiving packages (like @JPWJ says), but probably still more slowly than usual.

Hi! I’m from Nicaragua and my fiancé from Jersey. We applied in july, when the embassy was closed so we decided to use Costa Rica instead, i do have family there but I didn’t write it down on the i129f, i was planning to go there get everything done and just wait to come back to Nicaragua and leave to the USA once i had the visa in hands. Do you think that might be a problem?

@Amy J Hdz I wouldn't see a problem, but things have cleared up somewhat at the embassy in Managua so I would definitely think about what would work out the best for your situation. I just had my interview and have talked to other applicants who went through the interview in Managua and everything seems to be running normal.

If i wanted to update the embassy, do you know what should i do? I’m waiting for the noa2. Also, how long did it take you to schedule your interview?

I updated the embassy from Managua to San Jose several months before receiving the NOA2. We were told by USCIS support phone line to write a letter and physically mail it to the service center. It might take weeks for them to receive and process with the holidays. Let me know if you would like to see the letter we created. We also did not receive confirmation that the embassy change was made until we called NVC and received the case number that started with "SNJ" which means the petition was being sent to San Jose.
