Hi Everyone, I have my conditional green card thru marriage (Its been less than a year). For AOS Application, we handed a I 864A (Household member as joint sponsor- my wife's mother).

We are planning to move out from my mother in law's household to a new city (same state).

Since my mother in law will continue being the sponsor but no longer be a household member naturally, do we need to send a new/different form (i.e. I 864 instead) for sponsorship etc, or we don't need to inform USCIS, send new form apart from informing address change?

Thank you for your time and help.

Hi Lemon23, thank you for your response. It was not clear to me what you meant. (Sorry not sure what OP means perhaps O... Petitioner.. that would be myself)

My wife did submit a I 864 (or whatever form is for the primary sponspor/wife/husband for AOS application) when AOS submitted together with I 864A that my mother in law submitted. All approved, got my conditional Green Card.

Sorry if I  was not clear or I could not understand your answer. My question was if  me and my wife move to new household from my mother in laws house, does my wife and/or my mother in law need to submit a new I 864 due to the fact that I and my mother in law will no longer living in the same household.

Thanks.

OP means Original Poster which is you since you posted these questions.

Who is your petitioner on your I-864? meaning who wrote and signed the form? Is it your wife or mother in law?

You dont have to submit another I-864 since that was intact from your AOS/ROC until you became US citizen.

He said his wife filled out the 864 and the mother 864a because they lived in the same household. Now they dont.

MBS- The 864 form(s) are used once and not updated after they are approved. The only thing you update with USCIS AFTER GC approval is your address. A sponsor (either on the 864 or 864a) also needs to update their address with the appropriate form.

Thanks Everyone. if I move to a new address, this is what I understood that should be done In a nutshell ;

1/ I, the immigrant (conditional green card holder) need to update my address with USCIS using forms etc. and that is the only thing I need to do (within 10 days of the address change).

2/ My Wife, the US Citizen, Sponsor Needs to  submit a  sponsor address change form  to USCIS (within 30 days of address change) and she does not need to inform her address change in any other way than submitting a sponsor change of address form.

3/ My Mother in Law, the joint *household* sponsor with I 864a does not need to do anything or do not need to inform USCIS even tho she submitted a I864a not I864 in first place and as she will be not be moving in with us to a new address and she will be staying in her existing address.

Plse correct me if I did not correctly concluded any of above.

Many Thanks for your responses and help.

Umm to be clearer and point you to the right direction, here:

You submit an AR-11 form (change of address for GC holder). Send only once either online or mail BUT NOT both.

Here’s info and link to form:

https://www.uscis.gov/ar-11

Your spouse needs to submit an I-865 (change of addres as sponsor). If there’s a US Citizen co-sponsor, that person should also submit a change of address only if that person is changing his/her address of course. Otherwise, no need. This is for USCIS’ records. This can only be sent through mail.

Here’s info and link to form:

https://www.uscis.gov/i-865

Get it done! My wife and I also moved to a new address a couple months ago and are about to file ROC soon. We did all these address change notification to USCIS as soon as we moved to our new address and we received their confirmation.
