Hi all,

I posted this in the March filers thread and it was recommended that I ask here to see if there was any insight into the situation.

Obviously, my fiance and I are gay. I know that this is still a sore spot for many, especially in Latin America. Unfortunately, he has never came out to his mom until last night along with the fact that we have a visa pending and getting married. Well, it didn't go well at all. It's not the visa that's the issue but the coming out as gay. Lots of hurtful things said by her and of course a disapproval of everything.

My question is, is there a chance this could affect our visa process? He's definitely The consensus in the March thread is no. But then it was brought up that in high fraud countries, parental consent could weigh into the process but it was unsure if El Salvador is considered "high risk" so recommended I ask here.

Thanks!

Alan

Sometimes same sex couples can be looked at a bit differently especially if the local customs/culture is not accepting/approving of such. So sometimes certain things like family approval/knowledge/ect can be over looked. I wouldn't be too worried about it myself, I doubt her not approving will affect the outcome of the process. If denied, it would be for something else.

Thanks! This helps calm my nerves a bit. Just crushed he has to go through this.

Minus my husband having had two internships in the US before... he still never has told his parents or majority of his family (minus a couple) about him being gay (though I think a lot 'sense' it you know), not did he ever tell them how he was coming back to the US or how is managing to stay here this long...He always says it might be last time he get's to talk to a lot of them because they might not accept it... so a lot of people go through it obviously, some just choose to get it out in the open, some don't.
