silly question of passport

Hi there, I here with strange situation,

I just called my fiance and she told me that, she got courier and it was passport only no visa stamp on passport and nothing else, all her orignal document they have it still, and she also recive one BMB form, saying this We are carying out the Administrative Procedure. We will contact you.

If they return her passport back, does that mean she will never get a VISA now or what?

or what is the sitiuation, can anyone help me on this, why they would return passport w/o visa when they give VISA stamp only on passport. We are so worried, my fiance is crying alot yesterday when she saw her passport back, she almost end up her life, saying that she lost her hope now to be with me, but somehow I make her understand

I dont know about immigration, what they are doing with our case, at least they souldnt return her passport though

if someone know about passport return thing, please reply me and help me out, before I freak out

This is normal in some countries it sounds to me that she is on A/P also known as Administrative Processing. This is when the Embassy conducts extra security checks that they have to go through before issuing the visa. Once the A/P is complete then they will contact her for her to bring the visa to the Embassy and then they will give her the visa once A/P is complete. My fiance is going through this now as well he so far has been on A/P for 2 months. the time frame is different with each case but usually last between 1- 6 months sometimes longer just all depends on the case. Tell her not to freak out this is normal for alot of Embassies to do this. Everything will be fine. I hope this helps.

because i'm really afraid of that, I had been wait for this long time now, almost year since I file her K1 but if takes 6 more months, it will be so hard for my fiance to live alone with that, she had no one their, we are so attached to each other, that cant live separate now, I thought it would be end now but this freak A/P thing pissed me off, so is after they did the A/P they will contact her and ask her to bring her passport to the embassy itself or she can submit the passport in the VFS office?

No that doesn't mean they will cancel her case. Any it may take less than 6 months some people only go through A/P for only 1 month it just all depends on your case and the Embassy i know Cairo ( where my fiance is takes about 1-6 months sometimes longer). Yes they will contact her for her passport once A/P is finished. But if i were her just to be safe if she lives near the Embassy i would take it there. Or she could ask them at that time what would be the best way to send the passport they will tell her. And i know its hard but you will get through it I have not seen my fiance for 1 year also actually 16 months and its hard just hang in there and explain to her about the situation so she understands. But i hope you get through A/P fast. Keep your head up and don't worry everything will be fine.

what is this A/P is anyway? what they do in this and why it there for?

do you know if they for sure give VISA after ending this A/P thing or they will ask for more things or anything else.

Because I wanted this time they called her for ONLY visa, and I am so afraid abt this immigration stuff.

AP means Additional Processing. It usually means something is not finished like background checks. If your fiancee had a successful interview, she will receive her visa in time. I do suggest getting on their case though, call weekly until you get the visa.

AR means Administrative Review. If the CO suspects that the case might be fraudulent, they will do additional checking and research before giving the visa. They may request additional information.

Those who get into either of these states are not in it for more than 1-6 months. But some have had their visa held up for a year or more.

Those more familiar with the process in India can tell you better just how common this is. Assuming it is not all that common for a passport to be returned because of A/P when a visa was expected instead, you might want to be thinking about any possible reasons your fiance may have been singled out and be preparing to overcome any concerns the IV unit may have had.

Generally unsuccessful interviews result in the return of the passport at interview, not in the mail. In some instances, the IV unit changes its mind and wants to do more processing. The outcome is in limbo until the processing is complete and there are at least three possibilities.

1. The visa is issued.

2. They request more information.

3. They send a notice of intent to deny.

The passport has been returned, rather than retained because your fiance may wish to use it for another purpose than to enter the USA on a K1 visa. If they decide to issue the visa, they will ask for the passport back for long enough to issue the visa.

Administrative processing can and usually does include security checks but it can include anything they want it to include. Sometimes it means there has been third party interference or some potential fraud related issue cropped up, for example. It is a catch-all term, definitely not limited to security checks. Gurdip needs to be considering all the possibilities in order to prepare for any next step.

Yes she has succesfull interview, but they stamp her passport with K1 status and returnd her back on the interview date, because we didnt had the passport office police clearness so, we needed the passport for the police certificate at office, and so they gave her the BMB for, saying this submit the police report and the passport together in the VFS office within the 1 year limit time, so we submit that in 2 weeks and then later 2 days she got her passport back again in courier saying that "we carying out administrative procedure, we will contact you.

so I hoping that there is no denial point on this,

but if they did denied her for some reason, is there way we can appeal for it or re-open the same case

or we have to re-apply all over again?, that will be sucks you know
