I know flying every 6 months they can also continue to give me the temporary one as long as I leave before those 6 months is up.

That is using the tourist visa.    Think of it just like the B1/B2 visa in the US.  You need either the RT (temporary) or RP (Permanent) visa to "live" there. You should be able to get the RP based on your marriage.   You'll be eligible to get a refund of the tourist fee on plane tickets.  You do need to apply for the VISA before you go to Mexico. It is a foil that is similar to the US Tourist visa.  Once you get into Mexico you file for the green card. My wife got her card in about six weeks.

You can also get a driver's license so you are legal to drive there.

That is odd, meds generally speaking are cheaper everywhere else. Many people get their meds from Canada etc because of this.

Generics and off patent are cheaper.  Orphan, high costs and biologics are more in Mexico.  I have two that I use that cost more in Mexico.  One is $500 in Mexico for a months supply versus $40 in the US with insurance.

But if you are living in Mexico presumably you will not have US Insurance? Maybe Canada then.

So he will apply to return to USA in 10 years?

Yes I am getting ready to move down there to be with him just waiting  on my bankruptcy discharge then house up for sale. Hoping it sells fast so I can go soon . The immigration lawyer said to keep an eye on the laws and if they change before the 10 years is up we may be able to come back sooner. Who know I may like living there better and want to retire there lol.

lol have you seen they way they drive there . No way I would even want to drive there especially in Mexico city its very scary and dangerous. I was looking into to getting the visa before i left but I will not have a job when I first get there so I am unsure of how I can still apply for a RP visa . The Mexican embassy is a 4 hour drive from here but I was told I could apply for it there and the embassy is only 1 hour away . Not sure which way is best?

Thanks for the update. We rarely get people who are willing to update us with cases like this. Also, I commend you for making the decision to move to his country to be with him. Oftentimes we get the feeling that people who go through this process have an "its-the-US-or-nothing-at-all" sentiment. When you truly care for someone, then the option of relocating should be go both ways, unless, of course, there are safety issues.

Getting the Drivers License just shows another link to Mexico.  If you want crazy drivers go to the Philippines.  I  just drove there for 10 days.  No stop signs and tons of motorbikes.

If you get a RT visa that is ok.   But you are married so you should get a RP and then you never have to deal with INM again.
