Sounds like the mother only just received her LPR status so will have to wait 5 years before she can apply to be a citizen. That would add to the time it takes to file F1.

Ah ok. Best to apply ASAP when she becomes a LPR.

How come F1 moves slower than FB2?

You would think a USC sponsoring would be faster?

Aged out by 2 years. Sad.

The categories are all numbers-limited, so the wait time is determined by the number of visas available vs the number of applications. If there are more applicants for the USC sponsored one then it will be slower - exacerbated by those who’ve moved from F2B to F1 in the past when it was faster or who don’t do anything after it changes automatically  (there are no moves the other way other than the ones like contemplated here , who of course are just going back to where they were rather than really moving category)

It sounds like a super slow video game, watching to see which petition crosses the finish line first.

That's what I thought. Even taking in consideration the waiting time to become the citizen.

Well, if living in the US is more important than a wife, I guess it is.

We'll see how the life goes. Can plan a lot, but then life happens. Thanks for info anyway!
