My bank seems clueless about this. Can you just send in statement from the last year? or do you actually need some specific thing...and am I missing the terminology to ask for it?

You may be able to print them from your online account- I was able to. Ask your bank for monthly statements going back to whatever month/year you need them for.

As above, just ask for your monthly statement.  Lots of banks don't mail them out because a lot of people choose to go "paperless", which means that you still receive, just not by mail.

edit:  I get email notifications from two different banks when my monthly statements are available, they have a link that takes me to my bank account where I can view them.  You should be able to just log in to your bank website and look in your account.

Can you be more specific about what you are asking your bank for?

I was going with the stuff in the list below. in particular, "A".

A) Statement from an officer of the bank/financial institution with your deposits, identifying the following: 1. date account opened; 2. total amount deposited for the past year; 3. present balance (B) Statement(s) from your employer on business stationary showing: 1. Date and nature of employment; 2. salary paid; 3. whether position is temporary or permanent (also include copies of your last two pay stubs and your previous W-2 for the associated employer if available) (C) If Self Employed: 1. Copy of last income tax return filed (or IRS transcripts); or 2. report of commercial rating concern (D) List containing serial numbers and denominations of bonds and name of record owner(s)

Most banks know what you want if you mention the K! visa. I used my tax transcripts for the previous 3 years as well as a current statement from my bank for checking and savings accounts. If you are close to minimum financial requirements you may want to include assets

its kind of complicated. I just moved across the country so, my bank is on the east coast and I cant just walk in....I have new bank here..but i just started a new job...so I think i'll have to get something from both. They did mention that they could provide a letter with all of the deposits. But i was wondering if bank statements from the past year would work? Does it really need to be a formal letter?

In terms of minimum financial requirements, my understanding was that that is more about what your salary is than what is in your bank account.

Yes that is true about salary, I was mentioning that if your salary was close to the cutoff assets would help. A formal letter from your employer stating your salary, permanent job etc would be beneficial. The letter from the bank sounds fine. I just included bank statements; one a quarter for the past year showing steady income.
