K 1 visa help please

Hi everybody I am applying for k1 fiance visa I done my notion of Readiness got email to sign up for appoiment i just want to make sure did I click the right box there are to 1 saying nonimmigrant visa and the other is permanent visa .I clicked on permanent visa is that the right One reason I asked when I signed up and confirm appoiment and courier I did not have to pay anything there was no option a good friend is helping me to he is going threw the same process but he siad he had to pay I am confused did I click the wrong box is the permanent visa the right box my fiancee paid at the start a check of 535 dollars to department of homeland security. I am a nervous wreck can any one advice me if I did it right thank you

Not entirely sure on the wording, but the K-1 visa is a nonimmigrant visa, but it has immigrant intent, so it's kind of a dual visa. And yes, there is a fee for the interview that must be paid.

 

The $535 at the beginning of the I-129f petition is just the filing fee. This new fee, something like $260, is the visa and interview fee.

 

This isn;t a cheap process.

If I remember correctly it was non-immigrant visa I clicked on when making my appointment for interview. I got an email pretty soon after with link to pay the fee.

 

I would send an email to the embassy and let them know. I had questions for them along the way too regarding my interview and they were sometimes slow to respond but when they did they were very helpful.

K1 visa is a non immergant is that correct when applying for a k1 fiance visa

Yes. It is a dual intent visa, but classified as non immigrant.

Correct, it is non-immigrant.

That said, it is handled by the immigrant visa unit at the embassy/consulate. So once you get to NVC or after, you will usually see it listed in the immigrant visa sections.

Thank you so much I just need to schudle my interview now going doing that in a few minutes i need to calm my self down before I do it is it correct then  I click on visa spouce section then. To move forward and make interview then

I saw somewhere on VJ that it starts in the system as "immigrant visa" because that is your overall intent. 

 

But sometime around approval time, before travelling, they change it to "non immigrant visa" because the specific trip you will make is a one-off visit as a non-immigrant.  During that "trip" you then "adjust status" by applying for a green card.

Ah, you will be grand.   It's exciting though.  I cant wait to get my NVC number and schedule my interview.  

 

Did the embassy give you an interview date, and you have to login and confirm?      Let us know how you get on with scheduling ... I think there are only a few K1 interview dates each month (perhaps one in mid - November) and they interview a bunch of people on the same day.
