The Boston Globe has called for the coordinated publication of editorials by any and all news outlets criticizing President Trump’s rhetoric on the press, scheduled for next week.

They have asked a number news organizations to publish editorials condemning the president’s labeling of the press as “the enemy of the people.”

 

So basically they are calling for the media to stick up for themselves against Trump's rhetoric on the press.

Maybe they could stick up for themselves by actually analyzing the political bias they show everyday (that started way before Trump was elected) and doing something about that.  The press of this country are not gods and they are not above question just as any political leader is not above question.  For years the mainstream media has moved progressively left and expected almost no pushback.  Well, as long as Trump nor anyone is Congress is proposing laws to limit the freedom of the press then I am fine with any political leader questioning their ethics, biases and tactics.  Btw, when the media exercises their bias either through their stories or editorial content, they are angling to become the political enemy of a great many people of this country.

Let him question it all he wants. Freedom of speech, freedom of press. The media is only biased when it doesn’t fit one’s point of view.

Isn't that what Trump is doing, questioning them?  Btw, it was not Trump that started this discussion regarding the media's bias, Bernie Goldberg has a great book out there that he wrote many years ago. 

 

As to your last sentence, we could turn that around, when the media fits one's point-of-view, then that person perceives no political bias.  Personally, I like getting the feedback from the insiders as to identifying their bias, and of course I am not in favor of any laws limiting their ability to be free in what they write or report.

False.  I don't mind an occasional opinion piece that reflects an indivual's leanings.  However...

 

The media is SUPPOSED to be there to report facts, not sway public opinion.  With proper facts, I am capable of forming my own opinions.

Facts that one believes. Many don’t like facts that conflict with what they believe or want to be true so they disregard them.

Like  reading  somerhing bad about Obama or a Democrat and it fits one’s point of view? Then it’s fact. Right?

Facts are something that everyone should question with respect to the media and their reports particularly with “sourced” stories.  People are going to believe what they want, and in my opinion the media should do everything it can to eliminate even the appearance of bias in their news stories.  Editorials of course are a much different matter, but even those could use a little less bias.  One thing I always question at election time is why do news outlets or their editorial staffs feel the need to endorse any candidate.  Just report the good and the back that has been properly vetted and let the people make their choices.

Agreed. But the candidates themselves spend most of their time attacking each other instead of answering the questions asked of them. The last Presidental debates were an embarrassment to both parties.

I agree, however people tend to browse an article, read titles, look at a few random pictures and feel they have read an article. Titles are misleading and pictures are chosen for effect, not accuracy. 

 

This happens on both sides, not just the right or the left. Yahoo is prone IMO to radically biased articles that paint an agenda rather than a picture of events, for liberal leaning individuals Fox does this

No doubt, I don’t know how many times I have read a headline that really did not describe the story at all.
