1. Ignore the posted processing times. At best, they reflect the submission date of the oldest petition they still hadn't acted on.

2. Your case may never show a "touch" from submission to approval.

3. Check the timelines on this site for more accurate information.

5. Fill in your own timeline so you add to the help available here and also help us give your correct answers.

6. NBC isn't actually processing K3 cases now. It is likely you case was transferred to California or Vermont.

7. Fill in your own timeline so you add to the help available here and also help us give your correct answers.

8. Fill in your own timeline so you add to the help available here and also help us give your correct answers.

Mononoke,

I was looking at your timeline and noticed it took a while (almost 5 months) for you to get your NOA1. However, you seem to have been able to track your case long before that (e.g. CSC starts process and sends NOA1 on 2/24). How do you know this? How were you able to track your case before receiving the NOA1? Did you wait 30 days and call USCIS for the number?

I just went to the USCIS website and created my profile (I hadn't noticed this before). However, I do not have an application or any receipt number yet, so I can't add that to my account.

You see, my problem is that it's been 3 weeks since I sent the I-130 and still no NOA1. I'm not too worried yet (I think it's too soon for that) but I would at least like to know they have my package.

Thanks in advanced.

It actually took about 2½ months. What I did was I checked my cancelled check with my bank and saw a blurry receipt # on it, I plugged it in the USCIS web site and it said that on 02/14 they had mailed me the NOA1. After 30 days and still no NOA, I called them and they gave me the correct receipt # over the phone and told me that it would take 30 days for me to get it. It took forever but I finally got it.

Also, if you want to pursue a K-3 visa, you don't have to wait for the physical NOA1 of the I-130. You can write down the receipt # on the cover letter for the I-129F and tell them you never received it.

I see... oh well. I guess I'll have to wait for the check to be cleared. Hopefully it won't be long before this happens. This will be the first check I have ever written that I WISH was cashed already. :)

Regarding your last statement, you mean write down the receipt number USCIS would give me over the phone, right?

Exactly. We opted to file for a CR-1 visa once we saw that we were not going to get the NOA1any time soon. But then after reading a few posts from other people months later, I found out that you only need to reference the receipt # USCIS assigns you to file the I-129F.

It turned out to be better option for us though because it will only take about 7 months (God willing) for the whole thing to be over with. A K-3 it would have taken just a bit less and then we'd have to deal with AOS and EAD.

Do you know how long it usually takes from I-130 approval to interview date? Is that the 7 months you're talking about?
