To be honest, regardless of how he responded it would not be enough, someone will be butt hurt, in this case he opens himself up to condemnation from both sides

His radical conservative fringe will be angry he doesn't defend white supremacy and nationalism

The liberals will be upset he didn't make this statement earlier, didn't condemn only the right, stated there were mistakes/good people on both sides

I'm glad he made the statement. It sounded very presidential. As I said it would have been a good statement to make last year, but I'm not upset. There's never a wrong time to do the right thing. I agree it may cost him more with his base than he gains from the left. Not everything is about the score. It's still the right thing to do.

I agree it is the right thing to do, but I think it will not hurt him with his base as much as his fringe far right base, I truly do not believe Trump is a fascist or a Nazi, he is reactive and has poor filters

Troof.  He doesn’t know how to talk to people, let alone America.  Like a lot of rich, spoiled people, he suffers from everyone around him putting up with all his BS, and no one telling him he is wrong.  Here’s hoping this is a sign he is maturing a little due to the job (though I have my doubts).

But I agree, the right thing to say, and the right way to have one’s moral compass directing him/her.

Respectfully yet strongly disagree.  The "ready, fire, aim" Twittering aside, the President has an uncanny retail sense of what resonates with regular Americans, and he has always been able to communicate that.  In addition, it became clear early that understanding much of what he's getting at depends on interpreting it figuratively rather than literally.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

What I mean is that Trump is not a diplomat nor a soft-spoken person.  He is brash, and as mentioned above, has no filter.  Really rubs some people the wrong way.

But look where that has gotten him, outside of the presidency.  He’s a successful billionaire.  Don’t know how many friends he has (in my experience, most rich folks don’t really have many true friends), but that comes with the territory.  In some ways, this country needed a non-politician who pushed a cold, hard line.  And here’s the rub... remember when so many were in an uproar when he called a certain country a SH?  Well, it’s actually true.  Harsh words, they seem offensive, but they cut RIGHT to the point.  People are not used to that.  But the man is really not a politician, kissing babies and hugging people to get votes and support.  He’s not perfect, but he is ours, and he is getting the job done.  I may no likey the way he says some things, but I DO like some of the things he has done.

Actually, Trump is a pretty good diplomat and many world leaders that actually talk to him one-on-one say that (Justin Trudeau) even if they disagree politically.  Sure he is brash, and sometimes uses Twitter to fly off the handle, but he at least likes to talk to people.  The word was that our last president actually hated talking to anyone (even political allies).
