I plan to include updated chat logs for NVC, maybe a couple for different time periods since filing the I-130 as it is recommended to not overwhelm the CO with a bulk of pages. Also, I am also aware of the content - that they want to see everyday mundane chats (not all the mushy stuff).

My question is that all our conversations are in Spanish.  I'm sure translations won't be necessary. The logs I sent with the  I-130 weren't translated and we got our approval.  I'm just running this by my fellow VJers to make sure. Thanks!

Further,  I'm not even sure if chat logs even carry much weight since they are secondary evidence. On the other hand, I'm afraid to not include at least a few. If the CO is the one who reads them, then I'm sure he/she knows Spanish. Translations are costly. If I were to do them myself, it might come across as if I altered the content. I'm just thinking out loud and your thoughts on this would help.

Do you send each other pictures of your lives that show you share the mundane (i.e your pet/s, food you cook/something you bought etc)? Maybe something like that would be good parts of the chat to include as the need for translation is less.

You really don't need to send any more chat logs to the NVC. I don't see what it would achieve. We didn't send any additional evidence at the NVC stage. If you have had further visits to see each other since you sent the I-130 it might be helpful to send evidence of that. But chat logs should be at the bottom of your list of things to send at this stage, if at all.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

We never sent any chat logs. Ever.

Fair enough and I get it. Your help is so appreciated and valuable because so many here have gone through the process start to finish. I'm just going by what some attorney sites are saying about chat logs.

JFH, are you saying that chat logs are not needed at this stage because our case was already approved by USCIS and no additional evidence of that sort is needed for NVC? If not, then should we have them on hand at the interview? (Just trying to learn the process as it is new territory).

I want to make sure to send enough and yet not too much. (I read that COs can get irritated at a bulk of info. Believe me, the last thing we want to do is p off a CO. 😕

Thanks for your insights. I hear that the UK is beautiful. We would love to visit there one day. :)

In our situation,we added a few of them as well as other supporting documents like my husband's life insurance policy listing me as the beneficiary and his auto insurance listing me as an excluded driver.

I hope this helps

We use the term "side load" for a reason.  It IS a thing.  Whether it is important or not is another question.  Consular Officers are not required to consider relationship evidence that was not included with the initial petition, and often do not.  In any event, examples of how and how frequently you communicate, do not need to be translated if they are in the local language where you will interview.  The same goes for police report and birth certificate, etc.

If you include the original and the translation, no one  think you would altered them. Why would anyone alter chat logs if the originals are there for them to see?  Like @JFH said, this should be at the bottom of your evidence list, if at all.

LOL!  You’re on the insurance as an excluded driver?  He wants to make sure you don’t drive!    Just trying to bring a bit of humor here.

You would never submit just the translation without the original.
