Just trying to get as much done as we can, while we wait for a MNL number from NVC....

Can the DS-160 be completed before we have the MNL #?

I know it is filled out online.....by my fiancée.... but is there somewhere I can see a copy of the form (all the questions)...so if she has any questions, I can try and assist?

Thanks.

As said by DaveMira - the sample online should be good.   The DS-160 is used by all embassies.  It takes roughly 30 minutes to complete the form online.   When done don't forget to print out the confirmation page.

And yes it can be completed before you have your MNL #

Oh, one more thing - YOU can fill out the DS-160, save it and then you fiancee must review it then submit it.    https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/

Other people can assist you with your visa application. Note that under U.S. law (22 C.F.R. 41.103) you must electronically sign and submit your own application unless you qualify for an exemption. Even if someone else helped you complete the application, you (the applicant) must click the “Sign Application” button, or your application may not be accepted.  "

Here is the instructions & FAQ section (links on the visaconnection-philippines.com website also)   http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-niv-ds160complete.asp   https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/forms/ds-160-online-nonimmigrant-visa-application/ds-160-faqs.html

Does the visa fee need to be paid...before the DS-160 is filed (signed and submitted) ?

No.  Not with the K-1.

If after submitting the DS-160 you realize there are errors, you can complete new DS-160 and print out a new confirmation page (tossing the old one).  If the error is something simple like a typo in the name, that can be corrected at the interview.

Does the DS 160 give many people grief....at the interview?  I haven't seen too much written...about it causing problems... :)

And pitfalls on that form...to avoid?

Hey Doug do you remember me giving information to know what to do in processing through USEM? I'll post here again. I think you'll find it to be very helpful and most of your questions will be answered.

Glad to have you here. Once you receive your case number it's time to be in charge of what time you choose when things get down. To smooth that trail for your I have a few things that will help you process your visa there in the Philippines.

Start by visiting Hanks site where he has taken the time and research, and of course it helps if you spent 8 plus years helping folks in the Philippines sub-forum get their visas, where he has listed each step. With those steps he includes the what, when and why to completing the item. Many have used the website and have had little or NO problems securing a visa from USEM.

Next you'll want to connect with those who are processing through the Philippines in the VJ Philippines sub-forum that way you will be with like minded ppl who are sharing their experiences and also asking and answering questions. Since most in this thread are processing through another country they would be hard pressed to explain what is needed for the Philippines.

You'll find this on Hank's website but I will give it to you early and that is the Packet 3 Letter for USEM. It's found here:

https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiancee-visa/the-interview/

Here is the Packet 3 letter.

There you have it. Everything you need to get your visa. Good luck and smooth

Don't stress on the DS-160, it is very straight forward.  It is more like a BIO information form, not too exciting.

I had to do my ds 160 twice because I didn't write my middle name at the first name section. During my interview at the US Embassy Manila, no question were asked as to why I did it twice (I only presented my new ds 160 confirmation page) however I wasn't able to upload a photo so when I was at the pre-screening area, before asking me questions, the officer told me to go to the other counter first where my 2x2 photo was scanned. After that I returned to the officer and she accepted my documents and started the interview.
