Address Change Post Office?

Hello, I'm building our case and I'm wondering how it is possible for my wife to receive mail at our residence in the US before getting here. I can do a change of address form through the post office but the postal worker said she thinks they forward her mail from her current address? (It is in the Dominican Republic). I don't want her to not receive mail there since obviously that would delay our case (by her not getting what comes to her from the Embassy). All I'm trying to do is to get some mail (circulars and etc) to come to the address in her name. Amy suggestions?

Maybe I'm missing something here, I don't understand your questions.

Is she currently in DR or the US?

1.  You can't do a change of address from another country to the US through the US Postal Service.  You will have to contact the postal service in DR.

2.  How will she miss any mail from the embassy if she hasn't left DR?

3.  If you want to "get some mail (circulars and etc) to come to the address in her name" just sign her up for some newsletters or such and use the address where she will reside in the US.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

She is in the DR. I'm just trying to get some mail to come the the house in the US in her name for immigration purposes. I don't want her mail to stop coming to her address in the DR.

Doesn’t the embassy or NVC use email for all correspondence unless it’s still postal in DR?

There was not a single mail to my wife during whole immigration process.

Using the USPS in The United States won't change mail instructions in the DR. All mail regarding your case will be sent to you regardless, even if its addressed to her it will have "in care of *you* ". They know she isnt in the U.S. and like the previous reply, if you are requesting mail flyers they will come to the address you use when you sign up for them, like magazines, sales papers, etc

Yes, one way or the other. In Jamaica it was sent to a DHL location where my husband was to go with I.D. to pick it up.

Want to get some mail at your address in her name, add her to one of your credit cards as an authorized user. 6 months ago I added my fiancee to my one credit card with no foreign transaction fees and gave her her own card. Even though she doesn't have a SS Number yet I get more credit card offers for her than I can shake a stick at. They all want her to sign up for more cards of course, but not going to happen for a while. This was just something I found out by accident, but it will get mail in her name sent to your house rather quickly.

The Embassy in Santo Domingo requires that you register for a courier service.  I believe the fee is $11 usd.  You choose the location/office where you want to receive it, and they will notify you when it is ready. You need a photo ID to pick it up.

I'm not even sure if it will even make a difference having some mail come here in here name because the CO will already know she obviously doesn't live here yet.  We don't want to come across as trying too hard because that could create some doubts. I'm not sure. It is just that I found in my research that  sometimes they like to see mail in both our names (even though she has never been to the US). Just trying to be diligent in building a case with solid evidence.

You could have Amazon deliveries sent to you house in her name.  That is one thing I did.  I plan to include pictures of the delivery labels ......but I personally would not do it until your wife is actually in the US.

Her name only or both of our  names? I'm a teacher and I plan to order a couple of things from Amazon this week but the supplies are obviously for work.

I have both our names on our Amazon address .  It works well for us.  The format I use is:

My name/Her name

Address

Maybe I'm not getting something here... Are you saying you want your wife to receive some junk mail because you plan to use it as evidence of a bona fide relationship? That's crazy. We have a PO box and we get mail sent to it from all sorts of places for the previous box owner. Likewise at the house we even had a Fedex delivery for a previous occupant. Junk mail doesn't do anything to support a claim of a bona fide relationship. I could sign up online to have a catalog delivered to my house in the name of Axl Rose - doesn't mean I live with him or that we have ever even spoken to one another.

We sent copies of greetings cards sent to both of us (anniversary cards, faith event cards, etc) and personal letters from relatives that made reference to us as a couple  (a letter from my aunt to me that said "I imagine you are very excited to see F again for his birthday" and other such things). But if you are not living together yet (and most couples going through this process aren't) then don't try to make it look like you are. You are muddying the waters there. Focus on the evidence of being together, spending time together, not shoe catalogues. The embassy is not expecting to see mail addressed to her at your address.
