Things are not looking good in Pak.... 40 killed, 150 wounded. Civil unrest, protests have

engulfed every major city. Karachi is paralyzed, shops are closed, very little public transport

on the roads. I doubt the Embassy will be open. Good Luck.

The consulate is open in Islamabad. My wife is in Karachi and I wouldn't trust everything you read and/or hear.

I have a virtual Karachi-Pakistan number that I use so my wife can call me local, If you want pm me and I can forward that number to your phone and you can give Javed that number to call. maybe you'll have better luck with it
