Are you the USC or the beneficiary? Myself as the USC i had to use my maiden name until i went through proper channels to take my married name. Just as simple as applying for a name change at social security with a copy of your marriage certificate. Before the change is complete you must use the CURRENT legal name.. the maiden name.

Once that change was accepted it became my CURRENT legal name. I sent a copy of my new passport to NVC and requested they show the change in our file.

im the beneficiary

This is what I did. After I got my marriage certificate, I go back to SSN office to change my name to married name. I fill up all the form using my married name and put my maiden name as my other name used.

Your marriage certificate will show your maiden name. Mines is the same.

When you file for AOS you need to write in the form the last name you want to use so they print it in the greencard. You new legal name will be your married last name if that is the one you want to use.

You also do the same when you apply for your social security number at your near SSA office. You will show them your marriage certificate and tell them you want to use your husband last name instead of your maiden name.
