Backlog is slowly being cleared. I know it sucks, but looks like people who are interviewing now have a decent shot at bypassing AP altogether. July numbers for Iran are almost 10X numbers for June. August is looking to be even better. We will know around Sept 25.

They implemented an automated pre-screening mechanism (search my posts) and looks like that is having a meaningful impact. Everyday there are visas being issued with no AP, same week. Just that since all this is very recent, I am having a hard time getting statistics around what percentage, etc. Initially, I only saw visas for people who interviewed in June 2019, but now a days they are calling in people who interviewed 2018. I have hope this trend continues. I am really looking to hear from people who have interviewed within the last month or so.

My brother’s wife interviewed in Riyadh on June 3rd. No AP but received a 221g at the interview. Visa issued July 15.

I know this might be a stupid question, but do you guys think the embassy you interview at matters? I am in a group that shares information about abu dhabi embassy and they are post pictures of their visas everyday. Unfortunately no other groups seem to be as forth coming. So do we know if certain embassies approve visas more frequently than others? All my research says embassy has no control over the process, but with things changing so recently, maybe some embassies simply have not caught up with the new process yet?

I heard Djibouti embassy has been too generous to Yemenis lately!

That's interesting. So my last update was also on 15-Aug but mine changed from / to or a few days ago but without an actual update. Our case is at the Riyadh embassy and she interviewed in February 2019. Which embassy is your case at and when was the interview?

As far as the email, I mean it seems that it's a more positive response than what they usually send. So maybe they're really planning on processing these backlogged cases out and I hope you'll hear some good news soon.

This is great news. I am also aware of atleast half a dozen more cases with APs ~ 1 month (or no AP). At first I thought these are anomalies, but as more people report instances like yours, this might be the new normal (I hope and pray)

They mosltly forget about us and at someone disk who is in his never ending annual leave

I know, its very frustrating, but its whats happening. There are interviews being scheduled of people who have been in AP for a while, some from 2018, (like the poster above- 3 families who interviewed in december 2018). Some from as far  back as 2017. Unfortunately its taking time for people who have interviewed before July. While at the same time a family who I know interviewed on Sept 5th and have their visas already. Life is not fair.

Hi

I have been following this thread for a while .

My wife is Iranian citizen - CR1 and we did direct consular filing in Germany-US consulate Frankfurt.

Her interview date was end of June 2019 and she was put in AP at end of August after she sent in some requested documents.

I think that every embassy is different. I assume that since there are not too many travel ban cases in frankfurt, they put everybody there from travel ban countries in AP, otherwise my wife should have gotten her visa approved too when we sent in the requested documents in August since they had not put her in AP at that time yet, meaning her case was still at the consulate in Frankfurt until end of August.

Also, a friend of mine had his interview in Ankara 2 weeks ago and he was put in AP. He told me that out of the 20 or so Iranians that were there that day, about 8 women only got their visas the same day , 2 or so women were denied, and out of the 10 or so men, some were put in AP and some were denied. (No men got visas the same day)

I really hope that AP time is less now for everybody and that those who have been waiting for a long time get cleared soon..

We interviewed at Frankfurt last October.  After the interview if they asked you to submit the information like past email addresses, social media accounts and stuff like that, then you should go into AP after that point. We interviewed and CEAC showed refused, a day later the embassy asked us to provide that information via email, and then a day after we sent it our case changed to AP.

NOA1: 26 July 2017

NOA2: 2 February 2018

NVC Received: 13 February 2018

NVC Case # Assigned: 22 February 2018

NVC Left: 27 February 2018

Consulate Received: 1 March 2018

Packet 3 Received: 10 March 2018

Packet 3 Sent: 8 October 2018 (we delayed intentionally)

Interview: 31 October 2018

Currently in AP!!! :(
