I'm thinking of filing a Writ of Mandamus, pro se - meaning filing it myself, we're at 3 months going to 4 months - it may not have been enough time but I'm thinking maybe they'll work to dismiss it because there hasn't been enough time so then we can re-file when it's at 6 months; but I'm thinking it's a way to get their attention

If you have a very very compelling reason to file that, consult an attorney.  In the latest WoM case involving syrians, the US Attorney is trying to get a 14 year old girl living with her disabled grandparents in a hostile area for 14 months dismissed from the case.

NOA1: 26 July 2017

NOA2: 2 February 2018

NVC Received: 13 February 2018

NVC Case # Assigned: 22 February 2018

NVC Left: 27 February 2018

Consulate Received: 1 March 2018

Packet 3 Received: 10 March 2018

Packet 3 Sent: 8 October 2018 (we delayed intentionally)

Interview: 31 October 2018

Currently in AP!!! :(

I don't think dismissing her from the case cancels her visa application or anything - technically it shouldn't...and I also think if you get dismissed from a case, you can just file the case again, unless the judge dismisses the case "with prejudice"

Did everyone just got an update? I’m following 5 cases (3 from Riyadh and 2 from Djibouti), the ones from Riyadh embassy got an update today Sep 7th and the “/“ changed to “or” for all 3 cases. Please tell me this is not a glitch!!!

I am sure it means that the AP is complete and it’s up to the officer and embassy to either move forward or request more docs. I’m comparing to many cases I have personally observed.

So when I saw your post, I decided to check my fiancée's case, even though it's the weekend and I wasn't expecting any updates.

Her case is in Riyadh (K1).

What I found was very strange. No update (still 15-Aug-2019). But the "/" changed to "or."

I know for a fact it was "/" earlier on Friday when I checked the status and that sometime on Friday (or Saturday/Today) it changed to "or" because I watch for that change every time I check the status.

Also, I took a screenshot on 15-Aug and it shows "/" and now it shows "or." But there is no actual update showing. This is very strange and I have no idea what it means. Why would they change the text but not give an update?

I got so excited because the first thing I looked for was the "/" being gone then to my dismay no update.

That sounds pretty odd actually. The 3 cases I’m following, one of them is my wife’s, two are CR1 and one is IR1. Two interviewed on December 2018 and one in February 2019 all got an update today Sep 7th. Now I’m fully awake hoping for an email from the embassy. I can’t go to sleep I have work in 5 hours 🤦🏻‍♂️

But isn't the embassy closed for the weekend?

And that is really really strange. I'm kinda sad that my fiancée's case got left out and didn't get an update 😕

Well, maybe on Sunday or Monday we'll all hear some good news.

Tbh, a fourth case I know in Riyadh last update was June 24 (they didn’t even get the Aug 15 update) still has the “/“. I don’t know what’s up with that one really. Interview was on October 2018!

And I believe Saturday, for some reason, is a workday for the embassy in Riyadh. The reason I say that because I have gotten responses to my emails on Saturdays!

I understand Friday and Saturday is a weekend. Though, it seems like they do show up to work on Saturdays.

I hope so. I'm not holding my breath until Monday though because we didn't get an update but I hope they call you today or email you today.
