Hi guys. I'm new to this website. Some background to my case. I'm a U.S citizen, husband is from Yemen. Currently we are living in Malaysia together, with our embassy appt coming up soon. I had a question in regards to who has the authority to issue the visa. After our case enters AP, is it the embassy that has the power to end AP and issue the visa, or does the embassy need to wait for approval from Washington DC? If it is all dependent on DC, then how useful is it to be sending emails to the embassy, if they need to first get the green light from elsewhere? Also what is recommended for one to do during the AP stage? Is there anyway to contact the agency in DC or ask congress rep to do so? Thank you all in advance and best of luck to all of us.

Also, just an update about what's been going on here in Malaysia. I know about 6 couples, all Yemeni, who had visas issued to them in the past month, all of whom were under AP for about 6-8 months. There is also a tendency for the embassy here to provide the kids with their visas first and the mother remains in AP, I know of 2 such cases.

I know 12 couples that have received their visas in the past 2 months.

Goodness sakes.. that gives a lot of hope .. I’m sure you’ll get your visa as the American embassy in Djibouti sounds to be good at Processing  travel ban cases ..do you know any of them in person??

Did the embassy call them and asked for their passports to stamp the visa on it ?? And how long did it take to do so ??

Help is needed.

Curtis Morrison‏ is a lawyer who is working on lawsuits for many families affected by the travel ban waiver policy. As showed, he is requesting from any of those who had their visa printed already to provide a DECLARATION. He is trying to proof that there is no line or priority in terms of processing these waivers. Please think about those who are in your shoes just before you united with your loved ones.

I went to Malaysia in January 2019 for my husband’s interview. They were really nice. It lasted about 5 to 10 minutes. After we finished, they told us to send the DS 9945 to their email, we did that right after and then my husband was placed on AP. His case has been updated every month a few times since January except for the month of May and June. They also told us it would take up to 2 to 6 months. We are now on the 7th month and waiting. Malaysia is really good with replying back to my emails. I’ve went to our Congressman, he was no help and a waste of time. I’ve been on this thread since it first started and been very hopeful reading everyone posts. All I can do is be patient and pray for a fast happy ending with my husband’s case.

Interesting that they told you 2-6 months, because they told my sister (also in Malaysia) that the wait can be up to 1 year. I wonder if it's because my sister's husband will be getting a CR1 visa, and yours may be an IR1. The stats for Malaysia show that they give far more IR1 visas per month then CR1. The numbers for June were IR1 13, CR1 wasn't listed so I assume 0. And for May 12 1R1 visas were issued and only 2 CR1.

Hope you do get yours soon!

I wish  the best for you and your husband .. did the embassy  ask you to send your husband’s passport to the embassy ??

My embassy in Amman just asked me to send my passport to them and I did and I’m still waiting for it back . I wonder how long could it take ! Do you know any one who got their visa ? If yes , do you know how long did it take to send the passport back ?

Thank you in advance
