@salhasl yeah I noticed about Yemenis also. I wonder why? Maybe they have a better relationship now with the gov there and can vet the applicants. Good for them. Just passed 5 months in AP for us.

There are a couple of reasons. First, their numbers are far higher - even before the ban - they were getting 3 to 4 times the visas so it makes sense that they should be 3 to 4 X now. But what I am seeing is they are 10X now. They have a very good lawyer - her name is Julie Goldberg - shes gotten tons of visas for them. Second a bunch of them were unjustly put in limbo before the ban. A brooklyn judge made the govt print visas for them - that in itself should account for a dozens of visas. Third, I read in a redacted statement that they have an arrangement to get people waiting for visas out of djibouti because they have some strategic interest with the djibouti govt.

Yemeni and Somali spouses and children of U.S. citizens with immigrant visa cases either processed or pending and physically present in Djibouti. There are approximately 400 such cases in process or issued. These cases would be allowed to proceed subject to the requirement of mandatory SAO for all except those children under the age of 14. o Justification: The U.S. government has given assurances to the Government of Djibouti to process Yemeni IV cases in exchange for these individuals to be allowed temporary status in Djibouti. Upholding our previous commitments is essential to ensuring both our ability to offer consular services to YemeniAmericans and their families as well as to our ongoing operational flexibility at our military base in Djibouti.

"A group of leaders in Congress is preparing to introduce legislation on April 10 to redress the fall out of the ban. Known as the “National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants Act” or the “NO BAN Act,” the bill terminates the proclamation and limits provisions in the immigration statute the administration exploited to enact the travel ban. The bill also strengthens the waiver process for those in close family relationships or with humanitarian factors. Fifty-six immigration law teachers and scholars have issued a letter in support of the bill, concluding that it “provides a common sense and humanitarian solution in response to the outcome in Trump v. Hawaii.”

Sorry, again, as much as I hate to be the downer, there is no hope of this going anywhere. Even if it passes the house, its DOA in the senate. And even if by some miracle the senate passes it, it will get vetoed, and there is no way there will be a veto overcome.

The only solution here will be a judicial enforcement or change in administration.
