I wrote an email to the embassy in Riyadh and they replied "She qualifies for a waiver as your spouse at the time of her interview" I'm contacting many lawyers and they asking for thousands of dollars just to prepare a waiver !! Any help? How to prepare for such a waiver?

From what I've seen, you will qualify for a waiver automatically since you're married. There is not much that a lawyer can do to assist you. At the link below, AILA suggests taking several documents with you to support your waiver request, if needed:

https://www.aila.org/File/DownloadEmbeddedFile/75354

It starts on page 10. Read that and decide if you need an attorney or not. They did not ask for anything from us when we went to our interview. We've been waiting for a waiver for 4.5 months now.

I am wondering about this because I thought that the bonafide relationship part does not make a difference anymore. Initially they were accepting spouses and fiance And such. But I thought the 3rd version of the travel ban made it so that even if you have a bona fide relationship you are not automatically guaranteed a waiver anymore?

Well, initially the courts had an injunction order stating that people with a bona fide relationship were exempt from the travel ban.  Once the Supreme Court lifted that back in December 2017,  the bona fide injunction order ended and they were no longer exempt. That's when we all started getting submitted for waiver consideration. PP 9645 specifically states that a spouse is an example of someone who is likely up for a waiver, and  I'm not aware of a single person who was otherwise eligible that isn't under consideration for one after their interview.  Does anyone know something different?

Hello guys,

I wish you a new week full of good news.

I am shocked to see the numbers of B1 and B2 visas to Syrians! In January 100 visas were issued and in December 69 visas were issued! Why on earth would they issue such a number to non-immigrant and not even 10% of this number to immigrant applications! :(

You are totally right I was wondering about this too! Can’t understand the “hardship” that will be caused for not having a tourist visa! While we are waiting for more than 1 year to be united with our spouses and relatives that’s just unfair 😔

There is no point in paying a lawyer to make a waiver packet. Its a waste of money. You automatically qualify for a waiver if you are a usc spouse. You will be put in AP and wait like everyone else regardless of what you take to the interview. The only exception is if you have a genuine medical condition.

This proves that the wavier process is a sham, it shouldn't take national news coverage to get a wavier approved. The state department outside of the case officer working that case most likely never even looked into the case until it hit the news. "Extreme vetting" and all following paperwork done in two weeks, to say "hey look we are granting waviers"

I do not know what to say. Apparently part of the waiver, we have to find someone in the media to talk every one of us.  here is a place to start where you can share your story.

Are you trying to just push a narrative or what? You post a link to a website that's not even news related to say that people need to find someone in the media. What is the media going to do?

We are here supporting each other. Your words are not supporting this group. It is to tear us down. I respectfully ask you to stop this as a fellow human being.
