Well it would be a bit like me asking which Ferrari I should buy if I win the lottery.

I am intrigued about the Passport requirement? What changed.

Sure knock yourself out, finding a ferrari forum and ask whatever question you please.

Although I might not win, the answer to my question will help whoever does.

I think this is the first year you have to write down your passport number. Obviously this hurts groups of people that dont have passports and stops them from applying.

Boiler, I'm quite surprised you haven't already got this all worked out.

Head over to the DV forum, we have a resident expert who would know more about this than I do and could help.

I have a quick question: Will all applicants for DV-lottery 2021 born in on of the travel ban countries automatically be disqualified?

Since you are taIking about the 2019 Presidential Proclamation Ban countries, I doubt they will be automatically removed since they are eligible for a waiver recommendation from the CO. This is not the I-212/I-601 type of waiver for this forum.   Also just being born in a country does not always mean that the birth country is the the country of chargeability.

I assume this issue is that DV's have to be issued with a given time period?

No the issue is, what happens if your country you applied for gets banned after the application has been sent but before the draft.

I would think it's like any other country under the travel Ban. That those that are approved will have the Ban Waived. Nothing to file.
I know some through Nigeria were approved and got their Visa's after the Travel Ban went into effect on February 24th, 2020.

Well the problem with normal waivers, has been that they take time, now how long this type will take if it is n effect some time in the future I have no idea.

If the country was eligible per the Department of State "listing" then the petition is eligible to be awarded.  Of course they could publish a change to the eligibility.

If you get approved from a banned country then you would be eligible for a waiver from the CO.  You would not be doing an I-212 / I-601 waiver.

Though we understand there is no form, and it's up to the CO's discretion, those that have been successful in getting a waiver, what additional information, documents or discussion did you have that contributed to you being approved? My husband doesn't have his interview date yet, but we are watching closely to be as prepared as possible. Now that the embassy in Nigeria will be opening, I'll be watching closely here to see how the interviews and the waivers go. Thanks!

There is a thread specific for the Nigeria travel ban that has useful information.  He should definitely bring any documentation that proves that he is Nigerian ie birth certificate/attestation of birth, NECO/WAEC exam score results, etc. The goal is to prove he was born and raised there and not someone that is pretending to be that has terrorist ties.

Hello,

I'm a Syrian citizen who was born in Saudi Arabia (so My state of chargeability is Saudi Arabia), and my wife is a US citizen, we have been married for more than 2 years and we are residing in Istanbul Turkey, our case was approved by the USCIS and the NVC 2.5 months ago, and now we are in the line waiting for our interview to be scheduled at the embassy in Ankara - Turkey.

As I understand that I'll be subjected to the travel ban because of my citizenship, so we need to prepare a waiver package to propose it during the interview.

My wife's temporary resident permit will be expired within 2 months and it can't be renewed, and she also needs to travel to the US as soon as she can to attend the internship at the hospital to graduate, and she does not want to travel without me.

Also, I’m sponsoring my wife because she doesn’t work, ant this point is very clear in our case since she was added me as a joint sponsor.

My questions are:
1- What should we include in the waiver package?

2- Have any one done that before?

3- Does our status eligible to file an expedite request for our interview?

4- Since My state of chargeability is Saudi Arabia, does that support our case anyhow?

5- Since my wife is in the medical filed, does that support our case anyhow? because as I see the medical field workers are having a special attention those days.

Finally, I just wanted to say that I’m confused because I’m about to get the Turkish citizenship after a few months and once I get it I’ll be a dual citizen who is exempted of the travel ban, so I’m afraid if we filed for expedite we may stuck in the waiver process for unknown time and if we postponed our interview until I become a dual citizen my wife will be overstayed in turkey.

Please advise.
