Hello,

I'm just curious and seriously disturbed. I have a pending I-751 application with USCIS for almost 2years now cos I was emailed that my case is going through extended review. My native country is one of the just added countries to the travel ban.

Presently I'm in my native country, came down here with the I-551 stamped on my passport and my expired gc as advised by a lawyer that I could travel with the stamp and also the uscis website said the same thing.

My flight back to the US is on the 25th of February and the ban will go into effect on feb 21 or 22(not sure which is correct based on different dates seeing online).

Could I be barred from entering the US on my way back even with my valid I-551 stamp?

I'm thinking about changing my dates and be back on the 20th but what I came down here for which is very important too is on the 22nd of feb.

I've read countless of articles online since Friday trying to see how I could be affected but none say anything about pending i-751.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

No you have a green card, albeit just a stamp.  You no longer have a valid visa.  You are not applying for an immigrant visa.  You have a green card.

Married to a Nigerian 2019-11-20, submitted cr1 and received receipt on 2019-12-24! I'm freaking out! How can this happen? I need my husband! Do you know if they send you a letter stating you are screwed? Would you know when you try for the waiver? I read it's really expensive and you need an attorney for it... Thoughts?

Thank you!

sorry guys that you have to go through this. Hopefully it is much less painful now that they have an automated system to process the waivers. Recently, citizens of the banned countries have been receiving a lot more visas

that the past due to an auto system that process the waivers. So generally speaking, expect a 3-6 month delay in addition to the whole process. Good luck

I'm from Nigeria. My wife's interview is after Feb 21. I understand from people it will be denied based on 212f (president proclamation) but with an option to apply for a waiver unless the travel ban is lifted. What happens if the ban is not lifted and the waiver is not approved? Will it result in a fresh application?

You are always free to apply again, and pay the fees etc, but if the travel ban for Nigeria stays in place, I would imagine the result would be the same.

Hello all. I was recently impacted by the recent ban,  so this topic is of interest to me. I have been looking at past bands and trying to see which country was banned and when the ban was lifted. I found Chad whose ban was lifted 7 months after. I have been waiting for my NOA2 for almost 8 months. I hope they will keep processing while waiting for what the future holds. I hope this ban on Nigeria and the others doesn't take too long.

@Besamiot, USCIS should still keep processing your case. They did for those of us under the travel ban so far. After the NOA2, it'll be forwarded to your local embassy mostly likely via the National Visa Center. That's where the travel ban implementation occurs. There is a waiver process, and it's a lot smoother (i hope) than what we encountered, where it was held up for more than two years. I know that some from the original list of countries that are still on the travel ban are now getting the travel ban waiver within 30 days or less. I hope that this will be your situation.

NJ515 thank you so much. I really appreciate your response. Now I know my petition will still be processed and people have actually been successful from these banned countries. I will sit quietly and keep waiting.

@Besamiot don't be too quiet :)  Keep us informed as things move, especially once it progresses to the appointment at the embassy. A lot are watching and will benefit from whatever you can share.

Oh, no. I will share if there's any progress. I benefit a lot from this community and anything I have to share to help others, I will share. What I meant by "quiet " was that I won't be too worried about whether they will process my petition.  Especially now that you have told me they kept processing last time the other countries were banned. I am relieved.
