For people who have entered the USA already. My fiance (Syrian) is a hijabi and I want to know if they are giving any trouble to people with a hijab? How is the POE officer how is his/her demeanor (I know it's all relative)? I am am traveling to get my fiance from her country during the holidays and then traveling back together. I have Global Entry. Should we go in the line together or should we go separately.

Any advice or experience from anyone who has entered already would be great.  We are on a K-1 and we are entering at Chicago.

I would say 9 times out of 10 there wouldn't be an issue, they're mostly professional, but of course could encounter a nasty officer. My husband just entered at JFK, sporting a beard (I know not the same as hijab) and he had 0 problems. We went on separate lines. When your fiance gets to the counter, officer will ask for visa packet. He'll take it along with her passport and hand it over to an officer to escort her to immigration office, where they will look over her stuff and stamp her passport. Don't worry about it, she'll be fine.

Hi everyone, I’ve been a silent viewer on this page for a while. My husband had his interview last week at the Riyadh US Embassy. The officer said everything was good but he had to get his marriage certificate certified and to send the document with his passport back to the Embassy. Which he did. But there is one problem, he holds Somali passport. But the officer never mentioned he will be banned but he will be Oky if he sends his document back with the passport. Since the day of his interview until now, on the CEAC site, it says REFUSED. Will that change, I’m so nervous for him and so over this process. Sorry if this post is to long. I will really appreciate if any one can answer. Thank you in advance ☺️.

A Syrian friend of mine recently did his interview for CR-1 visa in Amman embassy and he wasn't put in AP. They just told him they would need a couple of days to process the waiver and issue the visa. Don't worry I think your husband will get his passport back with the visa issued on it soon. Since at the embassy they never mentioned AP to you and they requested his passport I think you are good.

The new automatic waiver process has made things faster for people who are having their interviews recently.

Good luck and keep us updated.

We also went to Refused after the interview. After we submitted the information they consulate asked for, our status changed to Administrative Processing.  This seems normal. Send them what they want and I suspect it will change to AP.

Q: Does traveling to another country before entry to USA affect the validity of the visa?

It might depending on which country you travel to.  Can you share where you intend to visit?
