This has been asked a few times over the past few years. Here is a post from a 10 year immigration attorney keeping it simple. Not that they are always right, but this is what 95% say on this matter....

 

Yes, it is a port of entry.

NO ... short trips there will not 'protect' your greencard.

You must live and reside in the US ... just 'touching' US soil isn't enough.

 

 

I am sure some other VJ'ers will post on this as well.

No.  Briefly entering anywhere in the US does not show you have a resident in the US.  The requirement for you is to stay in the US as a green card holder or to get a Re-Entry Permit.
