Employment Letter

Hi, just a quick question about the employment letter required for the I-864. I'm sending this pain-in-the-butt form in tomorrow, but am a little nervous because our joint sponsor was not able to get a "typical" employment letter. His employer said something about the Privacy Act, and told him he could "order one in", or instead print off a SF50 (I think that's what the form is called.) Anyways, I have the form here in front of me, and it does list his salary, position, hours per pay period, place of employment, etc.

He is employed with the Defense Commissary, so I assume that is why they had to be so careful about issuing an employment letter.

Anyways, has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know if this will be ok to use in place of the typical employment letter?

It is stated in the instructions included with the I-864 that the employer letter is optional as well as pay stubs.

What you indicate is good evidence and a copy can be included.

Basically, your employer letter should state "To whom it may concern: (first name,last name) has been employed

full-time with the XYZ Company since 200_ as a (name of your job), and is an employee in good standing with an

annual salary of $XXXX. Signed, John Doe, Supervisor (or whatever title)" The letter should be on company

letterhead.

Copies of his recent pay stub would be fine. The form that you have from him will take care of this issue.
