You need a valid EAD plus a SSC to work.

Once you get a green card, you can get a new SSC without the restriction. Then you just need valid ID + the SSC to work.

I know but what happens if GC app is denied? That SSC card will still be good?

Yes. The card remains valid even if one were deported from the US. It's not really of much use, but it remains valid for life. If one were to be re-admitted to the US, the same card and number can be used.

Hello. I had lost my original Social Security Card so I applied for a replacement card. My original card had my middle name on it which is my father's first name but I always used my first and last name everywhere here in USA. My Birth Certificate as well as EAD and AOSapplication has my first/last name. I requested that my middle name be removed in my replacement card and the officer at SSA went ahead did just that and I asked to confirm that this would not be considered a name change right? She said no. I just wanted to make sure. I did some research on SSC rules and found out that the only names that matter for legal purpose are first/last name not middle. Would this raise any concerns with my pending AOS application and/or at the interview?

 

I also noticed that my mother's and father's first name was misspelled in their system. Officer went ahead and corrected that as well. Would this raise any concerns with my pending AOS application and/or at the interview?

 

I also accidently put my mother's married last name on the Social Security application. I did inform the officer and they said that would be no problem even though I had already signed up the application. I just wanted to make sure. Would this raise any concerns with my pending AOSapplication and/or at the interview?

 

I checked the box 'Legal Alien Allowed to Work' box in the SS-5 form. I think this is correct right?

No issue with AOS...they aren't considered about SSC card names.

 

No issue with correcting their names either.

 

No issue again.

 

Yes, that's correct for somebody with an EAD.

They could I guess, but very likely not. They tend to focus on the validity of the marriage, not anything black & white they already have recorded (unless there is reason for them to doubt it).

My AOS is not based on marriage though. What will be the focus?

In your case, there's not a whole lot to review IMO. Should be pretty simple.

Does the petitioner have to be there? My lawyer will be there. What is the job of the lawyer’s presence?

Have to? No.

Mostly just to provide reassurance + document the interview (in case something comes up, they know exactly what was discussed). They aren't supposed to be asked (or answer) questions on your behalf.

The lawyer can interupt the IO during the interview or myself?

I don't see why he/she can't try to interject. But I do think you're worrying a bit much.

Yes I am. Are they going to ask me anything that is outside of the applications filed?

They can ask anything, although without any relevance to eligibility for permanent residence, they almost certainly won't waste any time doing so. They want to determine eligibility under the law, not who you are as a person or how you think.
