Question from a new immigrant - how long did it take you to get your GC mailed?

Dear all,

I know you are all focusing on a different step in the visa process right now but I figured you'd be the best to ask...  How long did it take you to receive your green card in the mail? I am asking because I hear others waiting for a while and wonder if there is anything we can do to make this process go any faster?

I am in southern California and I think that the local USCIS office is probably totally overworked.

My wife entered the US on 6/22/2017.  She received her Green card on July 15th, 2017......I have read it takes longer now.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

My visa is a CR-1 and I paid the fee before I left. Granted, I paid the day before I left because that was the day I received my passport back with the instructions attached to the passport.

But I thought it would arrive anytime soon and I am always making sure that I pick up the mail right after the mailman came by.

Husband and I entered using IR 5 in Sept 2 2016. His arrived late October 2016, mine arrived late March 2017. Go figure that !! 😳

Gosh that is quite a difference. Do you know why your dates are so wide apart? Did you do anything about it?

Never could get any consistent answer. I jumped up and down, made infopass appts, called USCIS at Tier 2 , engaged the congressional representative. Did it have any impact.. probably not.. never know.. but it helped me vent !!

Have you received your green card? I have been waiting since November of last year and still nothing. I have followed up escalated it to Tier 2 and still nothing.
