I134 for B2 visa??

I am researching the process for mother in laws B2 visa.  

 

Some websites suggest including I134 showing that I have the financial means to cover all expenses MIL will incur to visit daughter and grand daughter in the US.  Attorney websites says  NO.

 

My wife is here on a K2 and still waiting on AOS

No. Anyone applying for a B2 visa needs to apply and qualify on their own. They need to show they can cover the costs of their trip and expenses while in the US.

08/15/2014 : Met Online

06/30/2016 : I-129F Packet Sent

11/08/2016 : Interview - APPROVED!

11/23/2016 : POE - Dallas, Texas

From sending of I-129F petiton to POE - 146 days.

 

02/03/2017 - Married 

02/24/2017 - AOS packet sent

06/01/2017 - EAD/AP Combo Card Received in mail

12/06/2017 - I-485 Approved

12/14/2017 - Green Card Received in mail - No Interview

Note: Visa applicants must qualify on the basis of the applicant's residence and ties abroad, rather than assurances from U.S. family and friends. A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. If you choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember it is not one of the factors used in determining whether to issue or deny the visa.

We kind of have an idea of what website you are referring to and it is notorious for advising providing affidavits of support for tourist visa. this site is own by an India based travel insurance company.

 

An Affidavit is not need by you or anyone else for your MIL. For one, it can't be legally enforced because it is not even a required document by the Department of State. Also, if you think about it, if it was actually a requirement it would be kind of unfair/ridiculous to force someone to be financially responsible for you just so you can go on a vacation. I would love for someone to "sponsor" my family's trip to Singapore.
