Hello ,

This is Raheel from Pakistan. My J2 visa got denied recently under section 214(b). I am quite upset because I had all the required documents like wedding certificates and photos. I am reapplying now and unlike last time I have a job and I wrote in the application that my father will be transferring his commercial properties to me in near future so i have no reason to remain in US for longer periods of time.

Also My father is a politician and either the Governer of my province or the interior ministry of Pakistan will write a recommendation letter for me vouching that I will return back. Do you think such a letter will have an effect?

No

Those who claim high connections usually avoid public forums asking visa questions. And don't use their real names. But nothing stops you reapplying if you can get the letter.

Brother

Feel free to reapply if/when you have a change in your circumstances

No a letter will not help your case, the embassy is not required to look at it; furthermore it can be seen as trying too hard

I'm kind of doubting that a high ranking official in your home country can do anything in relation to a US visa. In fact, high ranking officials in the USA probably have almost no influence on the visa process. That said, if your father really does have such a position, it would seem to me that if you want to get a temporary job and live in the USA then perhaps he could influence the government in your home country to get you some sort of diplomatic position. Good luck!

A letter will have no effect.

Transferring properties to you will have a negative effect.  It's a sham.  It's still family property. ONLY REASON for transfer is to make you look good for a US visa.  The US Embassy loves very negatively when people try to trick them with property transfers.

You have a job.  Are you planning on keeping it when you get the J2 visa?   How is that a tie to Pakistan if want a US visa to leave and go live temporarily in the US?

Sometimes, it's not possible to get a non-immigrant visa to come to the US.  Even if the person truly does not intend to overstay.  The system does not work perfectly.  You may have to accept that you may not get a visa no matter what you do.

One year.  Wait and work in Pakistan.  In one year, your husband will return to you.

You are free to apply again.  Be careful because the US views property transfer and new job as signs of trying to trick them.

Sorry to bring you bad news.  Sometimes, we have to deal with governments controlling our fate.

I think OP is a male, if I'm not mistaken; looks like a male name. And estates are usually transferred to sons in the South Asian subcontinent.

As for the visa, @Kastrs above has a point.

Male here. Would it be suitable to write down spending 3-4 months in US or a year in visa application since my tie to Pakistan is my job and like you mentioned properties are mutated to sons here.

The only suitable thing is to be truthful to the US govt about your intentions.
